Chapter 14

Chord

Rhapsody was Emmerson Lee’s daughter. Son of a Bitch. The one woman in the whole world I shouldn’t be attracted to made my dick hard in a matter of seconds.   My ass of a cousin just stood there pointing and laughing as she got sick. I dropped Alice’s hand and went to Rhapsody. But, I was cut off by another woman who had a furious look on her face.

“I think you need to go.” She spat.

“Come on, cuz. We need to be seen back at our seats.” Alec pulled me away.

I watched as Rhapsody crumpled to the floor and the angry woman knelt next to her handing her a tissue.

“Come on, Uncle Chord.” Alice took my hand making me smile.

“Ok. Let’s go.”

Over Alice’s head, Miranda caught my eye. “How do you know Emmerson Lee’s daughter?”

“Long story.” I said.

She nodded and sat Alice close to Alec allowing her to sit next to me. I looked around trying to find my father. I didn’t see him so I took a deep breath. Miranda did a quick look too and leaned toward me.

“He’s at the bar. Looks like Emmerson Lee really does have a hell of an effect on him.”

I glanced toward the bar and saw him pounding a shot. Shaking my head, I said, “Well, there goes your no liquor rule.”

“If he stays away long enough for me to get this story out of you I don’t really care.”

I let out a laugh as the lights flashed. “Alright.”

In a quick hushed tone, I told my sister about the wedding two months ago. The horrible table we were at and saving her from the creepy guy. Miranda smiled when I got to the dancing part. I tried to skate over the bedroom part but she said she needed to know everything. I just think she’s nosey as shit. She let out a snort laugh when I let it slip about everything being a bit too quick.

“Oh my god! My brother is a one pump chump.” The table next to us turned with horror on their faces.

Fantastic. “Keep it down, Miranda.”

She waved my embarrassment off. “Continue chumpy.”

I rolled my eyes and finished with leaving the note and never hearing from her again. It was just in time to hear them begin talking about Blue Vengeance. Instead of watching the screen I looked over at the Blue Vengeance table. It took me a few covert glances to finally land eyes on Rhapsody. She looked just as beautiful as I remembered. Perhaps a bit green around the edges but the poor girl just puked in a fake plant.

I was so lost in thought I didn’t know my father was back until the slap on the back of my head. “Ow. Why’d you do that?”

“You will not associate with that girl, Chord.”

A laugh escaped me. “Are you fucking kidding me, Johnny?”

“No. I mean it. That girl is trouble. We don’t associate with them and they don’t associate with us. Period. End of story.”

It felt like my jaw had dropped to the floor. How did he think he was going to stop me from seeing Rhapsody?

“You’re funny. I’m a grown man. I can do whatever I want.”

A cold look frosted his eyes as the audience stood clapping for Blue Vengeance. He leaned toward me speaking so only I could here. “Who do you think pays for your grandfather’s medical bills? That house that your sister, niece and grandfather live in is mine.” He snapped his fingers. “Just like that they could be on the street.”

Fear coursed through my veins. “You’d put your own father, daughter and granddaughter on the street.”

The son of a bitch threw back another drink while meeting my gaze. “I’d do it without a moments pause. So, Chord, just try me by seeing that girl again. I hold all the chips. You can’t support them being a fucking librarian.” He sat back crossing his arms. “Now, watch your favorite band get inducted into the Rock ‘n Roll hall of fame.”

Everything sounded like it was in a tunnel. I watched as Emmerson Lee spoke into the microphone waving her arms. My eyes drifted back to the Blue Vengeance table and clashed with Rhapsody’s eyes. She looked like I felt.

Seeing Rhapsody was a mix of surprise, excitement, sadness and confusion. There were so many questions that needed to be answered. We just couldn’t answer them here. I needed to talk to her and if that ended with me between her thighs, all the better. My gaze traveled back up to the stage watching Blue Vengeance begin to play one of their biggest hits. While the music played I began to formulate a plan. By the time the song ended, I knew exactly what I was going to do and who I needed help from.

“Come on, Alec.” I begged.

“Fuck no. I am not crossing your dad. He would have kittens if he knew you were trying to see Emmerson Lee’s daughter.”

I followed Alec around our apartment. “He doesn’t even need to know.”

“He has ways of finding out, Chord.” Alec shook his head.

“For fucks sake, Alec just give him something so he can stop obsessing about this. He’s fucking with my game.” Benny said from the couch with a gaming headset on.

Alec walked back to the kitchen and paced. I bit my lip. It was a good sign that he stopped saying no. He was just not saying anything. When he pulled out a piece of paper and wrote something on it I knew I’d broken him.

“Here. You didn’t get this from me and if your father ever asks I will deny everything.”

With a whoop, I hugged my cousin who then promptly punched me in my stomach causing me double over. The fucker had a wicked jab. I should’ve known better then to hug him but I was so happy I’d won I’d forgotten about it.

“Thanks, Alec.” I wheezed out.

After a few minutes, I was able to compose myself. Leaning against the kitchen island, I unfolded the note.

Anderson Accounting

Good Luck, Fucker.

You’re gonna need it.

My nervous butterflies went into overdrive. I rushed over to the door grabbing my keys to rush over to see her. The door opened almost hitting me in the face. I rushed past Oscar and out to the elevator. Without having to wait, the elevator door opened letting me into the confined space. My leg bounced as I watched the numbers move lower. Finally the doors, opened and I squeezed past them running into the lobby.

“Mr. Reedy!” Wesley, the daytime security guard, yelled as I ran past.

I slid to a stop. “Yeah?” It came out breathlessly.

Wesley looked uncomfortable. “Uh sir, I’m not sure you want to leave the building like that.” Motioning with his hand to my body.

I looked at the mirrors mounted over the desk. In only a pair of boxers and high socks I stood in the lobby. I felt my face flame as I quickly put my hand over the opening of my boxers. Of course I had to be wearing a pair of novelty boxers too.

Shuffling back to the elevator, I said over my shoulder, “Thanks for looking out, Wes.”

He nodded with a grin that was barely holding back a laugh. As the elevator doors opened, an elderly woman stood next to me.

She looked over at me and she looked surprised. “You know you’re almost naked?”

I nodded with a smile. The elevator saved me from more conversation when it opened. I walked onto the elevator hoping she’d feel too uncomfortable to ride with me. She only grinned and stood only a hairs breath away from me.

When she pushed the button for the floor below me I sighed. She continued to smirk. I watched as she looked at my boxers. On the butt it read Cock-a-doodle Doo. Where my hands covered was a cartoon rooster with an eyebrow raised.

The elevator chimed to let her off on her floor. As she walked past me, I felt a pinch on my butt. I jumped then faintly heard, “Mmm…nice. Bakery fresh.”

I felt my eyes bulge while my face blushed again when she gave me a wink and a small finger wave. I bit my tongue waiting for the elevator to give me privacy again. When the door opened on my floor, I ran down the hall throwing open the door.

“Finally realize you were pretty much naked?” Alec said reading the paper.

“Wes stopped me.”

“You’re an idiot.” He took a sip of his coffee then looked to me. “When are you going to figure out it’s Sunday and nothing but churches are open.”

Fuck Me.

With that being pointed out, I realized I didn’t need to cover my junk any more. Stan was out of commission at least for the day.

I mumbling while walking back to my room, I said, “Sorry buddy.”

Before entering my room, I heard Alec yell, “Stop talking to your cock, you weird fucker.”
