Chapter 36

Chord

The cold water pouring over my head wasn’t helping.  Finally relenting I turned the water off and stepped from the shower.  I’d been in the shower so long the fog on the mirror was gone.  It only reflected the idiot I was.  Pulling on a pair of gym shorts for pajamas I took a deep breath.

Since Rhapsody had demanded I join her in the bed I’d been painfully hard.  Every possible sexual scenario played through my head all day long.  That made cooking dinner both difficult and dangerous.  Once it hit appropriate sleeping time, I fled to the bathroom to take a long shower in hopes I could take care of my raging hard-on, Stan, and that Rhapsody would be asleep by the time I was done.

It was a bust on both fronts.  I pushed the door open and saw the sexiest sight in the world.  Rhapsody was in bed wearing a barely there pajama top and was reading some book with a half-naked guy on the front.  What took me by surprise were the glasses she was wearing.

I was frozen in the doorway when she looked up at me.

“Done jerking off in the shower?”  She asked.

I blushed and looked away.  “I’m surprised your still up.”

She sighed.  “Little monster is riding on my spine like it’s a damn slide.  My back is killing me.”

“Do you want me to massage it for you?”  I approached the bed.

“Nah.  I’m fine.”  Her protest was contradicted when she shifted and winced.

I shook my head.  “Flip over, Rhapsody.”

“Are you ordering me around?”  She looked at me over her glasses.

“Yes.  Now flip over before I do it for you.”

Rhapsody took a few long moments to stare at me then closed her book and move to lay on her stomach.  I didn’t miss the small smile she had as she rolled onto her side.

“I can’t lay on my stomach.”

“Alright.  I’ll make do.”  My hands shook as I grabbed some lotion that was on the night stand.

Sliding her top up a bit I squirted the lotion onto her lower back.

“Fuck!  Chord!  That shit is cold.”

“Oh damn.  I’m sorry.  I wasn’t paying attention.”  I immediately began kneading the tight muscles of her lower back.

“You’re forgiven as long as you…ohhhh.”  She moaned.

“Feel good?”  My voice was almost unrecognizable.

“Oh yes.”  Came out on a moan again.

This was a fucking stupid idea.  All of her moaning was adding fuel to my already over loaded sex drive.  I was such an idiot but I’d do it again just to have my hand on her creamy skin.

After fifteen minutes of my mind wandering from one fantasy to another, I realized I hadn’t heard anything from Rhapsody.  I leaned over to check on her.  Her eyes were closed while her mouth hung open.  A snore indicated what I’d suspected.  She was out cold.  I pulled her shirt over her exposed back.  Before pulling the covers over her I took that moment to kiss her belly.  As I pressed my lips to her belly our little bean did a quick making me jump back.  I froze when I thought I’d woken her up but when the snoring continued I smiled.

A small laugh escaped and I said, “Feisty.  Just like your mama.”

Pulling the covers over Rhapsody I joined her in bed for what was going to be a really long night.

***

I blearily opened my eyes.  It felt like I’d been drugged.  As I finally started to come to I felt Rhapsody fling her arm over my waist and her leg over my thigh.  I was wide awake thanks to that.  Her head rested on my chest.  A stream of drool left her mouth and was pooling on my chest.  I glanced over at the clock.  My phone’s alarm was about to go off.  I reached for it on the night stand but couldn’t reach it.  Each move closer to the phone made Rhapsody cling tighter.

My alarm went off.  Rhapsody shot off of me and sat straight up.  The crazed look on her face made me concerned. I reached over and grabbed my phone effectively shutting off the ringer.

“What the fuck?”  She stared at me with wide eyes.

“Sorry.  I was trying to get to it but you kind of had me pinned.”

“That is the most annoying noise on the planet.”

I shrugged as I got out of the bed. “I needed something I wouldn’t sleep through.”

“Where are you going?”

“Work.”

“Oh.”

“Is something wrong?”

“No.”  She looked down at the comforter she’d hogged.

I sat back on the bed and took her hands in mine.  “It will be fine.  Miranda is coming over with Alice.  She apparently has some pampering thing in mind.  Who knows?”

Her eyes brightened.  “So, people are coming over?  I won’t be alone?”

“Nope.  I promise.  When I’m not here someone will come and entertain you.”

“I hope Alec isn’t on that list.”

I bit my lip.  “Well…”

“Ugh.  Seriously, Chord.”

“I was out of available people.  But, when he’s here you can boss him around and make him do all the horrible chores you wouldn’t want to do.”

She smiled.  “Dance monkey dance.”

“That look in your eye is a bit frightening.”

A grin curled her lips and I couldn’t help but laugh.  I leaned over and gave her a kiss then stood.  I froze when I realized what I’d just done.  Fuck me and my idiot brain.  She touched her lips tenderly then looked up at me.

“I hope you have a good day.  Dressing up today?”

I let out the breath I was holding and said, “Not today.  Next week is mythological week.  I will be dressing up as a Greek god.”

“Cupid?  A diaper and wings?”  She laughed mischievously.

“No.  I will be Thor.”

“Oh so you wanted to wear a long blonde wig and wear a cape?  Hmm…starting to worry about you, Chord.”

I shook my head.  “I better get ready.  I’ll be back to check on you before I leave.”

“Ok.”  A blush colored her cheeks.

Leaving the room, I closed the door behind me and waited a moment.  My blood was rushing too fast.  If I didn’t calm myself I’d end up passing out.  That was not a good look for me.  When I finally pulled myself together I glanced down and saw the morning wood I was sporting.

“Back it down, Stan.”  I mumbled.

“What?”  Rhapsody’s voice made me jump.

“Fuck.”

She laughed.  “Sorry.  I need to pee and if you don’t move you’re cleaning up a puddle.”

Rhapsody waddled past me and into the bathroom.  Instead of the cold shower I needed, I moved to the kitchen and started up the coffee.  As it brewed, I popped a few pieces of bread in the toaster then retrieved fruit from the fridge.

“Aww…there you go teasing me again.”

Her voice made me jump again.

“Jumpy today?”

“No, I’m just not expecting you to be wandering around here.  You should be resting.”

She waved my comment away as she walked toward me.  “There was something I wanted to do.”

“Tell me what you need and I can do it for you.”  I offered.

She smiled stood on her toes and kissed me.  For a second I froze then I pulled her against me kissing her back.  We stood like that until the beeping of the coffee maker burst our bubble.

“Well…have a good day.”  She grabbed the container of fruit and retreated to the bedroom.

“What do I do with that, Stan?”  I grabbed my to-go cup and filled it with coffee.  There wasn’t any time to think about that kiss or what would happen next.  If I didn’t get my ass to work, I wouldn’t be able to support her and little bean.  That was one thing I wanted to do no matter what.
