I took a deep breath before entering.&nbsp;&nbsp;She was sitting at a desk piled high with folders.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cPlease have a seat.\u201d&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I sat in a chair directly in front of the desk.&nbsp;&nbsp;\u201cThank you for seeing me.\u201d&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cYes, well, we didn\u2019t have a choice.&nbsp;&nbsp;Mr. Newman is quite influential.\u201d&nbsp;&nbsp;She looked down her nose at me.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cDylan is a longtime friend of mine.\u201d&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cYes, well we don\u2019t normally do this.\u201d&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI understand.&nbsp;&nbsp;Uhm\u2026I brought my internship requirements.\u201d&nbsp;&nbsp;I pulled out a wrinkled and coffee damp paper from the bag I\u2019d brought.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>She took the paper with two fingers.&nbsp;&nbsp;I had to hold back laughing because it looked like she would get bit by it.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m sorry for the coffee spill.&nbsp;&nbsp;I had a minor accident coming in.\u201d&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cUh huh.\u201d&nbsp;&nbsp;She glanced at the paper then released a breath.&nbsp;&nbsp;\u201cIt looks like the internship you are applying for has already been filled.\u201d&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cOh.\u201d&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Why the hell would they call me in if it was filled?&nbsp;&nbsp;\u201cThank you for your time.\u201d&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>She held up her hand.&nbsp;&nbsp;\u201cHold on one second please.\u201d&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I watched as she turned toward her computer and began typing.&nbsp;&nbsp;The whirring of the printer sounded through the office.&nbsp;&nbsp;She stood from the desk and retrieved the printed papers. When she sat she pushed them toward me.&nbsp;&nbsp;I took them and looked at the job description.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cExecutive assistant?\u201d&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThis isn\u2019t an internship.&nbsp;&nbsp;This is a job that just came through today.&nbsp;&nbsp;I believe you could still meet all the requirements of your degree while doing this job.&nbsp;&nbsp;If not, I\u2019m sure we can work something out with Mr. Hill.\u201d&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I blinked at the woman.&nbsp;&nbsp;\u201cReally?\u201d&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>She nodded.&nbsp;&nbsp;\u201cDoes this interest you?\u201d&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cOh my god yes.&nbsp;&nbsp;Thank you.\u201d&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cDon\u2019t thank me.&nbsp;&nbsp;Mr. Newman asked me to do everything possible.&nbsp;&nbsp;Consider this everything.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I made a mental note to send Dylan a mini-muffin basket or something.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWhen would I start?\u201d&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>She went back to typing on the computer then looked at her calendar.&nbsp;&nbsp;Turning toward me she said, \u201cWe will need you to begin next week.\u201d&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cPerfect.\u201d&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI will email you later this week with the paperwork you will need to bring on your first day.\u201d&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I stood from my chair.&nbsp;&nbsp;\u201cThat sounds great.&nbsp;&nbsp;Thank you again, Ms\u2026\u201d Realization struck me that I never learned her name.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cMs. Wolfington.\u201d&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cMs. Wolfington.\u201d&nbsp;&nbsp;I gave a smile and took a few steps toward the door.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cMs. Albright?\u201d&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cYes.\u201d&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cPlease be sure to be presentable next week.&nbsp;&nbsp;You now represent Hill Incorporated not some local homeless shelter.\u201d&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I glanced down at the shirt I\u2019d pulled over to cover my see-through blouse.&nbsp;&nbsp;It was coffee stained Karen?\u201d&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ian scoffed.&nbsp;&nbsp;\u201cNo.&nbsp;&nbsp;That\u2019s her husband, Bert.\u201d&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I really did love my brother but sometimes he took his job way too seriously.&nbsp;&nbsp;He was a vet at a local animal hospital and on any given day we would be housing any number of animals.&nbsp;&nbsp;It seemed we were housing the expecting couple.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cHe\u2019s nervous.&nbsp;&nbsp;He\u2019s becoming a first-time father.\u201d&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIs Beth here?\u201d&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cYes.&nbsp;&nbsp;I\u2019m right here.&nbsp;&nbsp;I overheard your news, Skylar.&nbsp;&nbsp;Congratulations.\u201d&nbsp;&nbsp;Beth pulled me into a tight hug.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Beth\u2019s curly blonde hair was pulled into a loose ponytail.&nbsp;&nbsp;She was a natural beauty with ample curves.&nbsp;&nbsp;She\u2019d been my brother vet tech since he\u2019d begun his time at Paws, Claws and Scales Veterinary center.&nbsp;&nbsp;Beth was a dedicated employee and madly in love with my brother.&nbsp;&nbsp;I really wished he\u2019d get his head out of his ass and see her before she was tired of waiting.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIs everything ok, Beth?\u201d&nbsp;&nbsp;Ian gave her a sweet smile.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cAll good, stranger.\u201d&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>She grabbed her bag and I think I heard her say, \u201cMaybe I should be more of a stranger.\u201d&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When she left, I turned toward time or patience to do this with you right now.&nbsp;&nbsp;I\u2019m going to take a shower then take a nap.\u201d&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cDid you spill your coffee today?\u201d&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ignoring his question, I slammed the door to my bedroom.&nbsp;&nbsp;I was so pleased to have my own bathroom in that moment.&nbsp;&nbsp;If I would have had to balance showering and listening to a ferret give birth I\u2019d decide to just take a nap smelling like coffee, men\u2019s deodorant and the sweat of that hot guy that I\u2019d sworn to hate for the
