I cleared my throat and stood from my desk.  \u201cUhm\u2026uh\u2026nice to meet you, Ms. Albright.\u201d  I held out my hand to her.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Skylar stared at me then at my hand.  All color had left her and she looked like she\u2019d seen a ghost.  I guess in a way she had.  Never in a million years would I have thought my new assistant was the one woman who\u2019d been plaguing my thoughts. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

She blinked then placed he hand in mine.  \u201cUhm\u2026nice to meet you, Mr. Hill.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

We stood like that for long moments.  Silence decended around us.  The bubble was burst when someone cleared their throat.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cDid you need something, Mr. Hill?\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cUh\u2026what?\u201d  I forced my gaze to leave Skylar and focus on Edie.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cYou asked if I was at the desk.  Were you asking because you needed something or were you just checking that the intercom worked?\u201d  Edie raised her eyebrow at me. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI need something.\u201d  What that something was completely eluded me now.  My gaze wandered back to Skylar who was looking at the floor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cDo you need the Winston report?\u201d  Edie offered. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cYes that.\u201d  I snapped my fingers. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe\u2019ll get that right to you.\u201d  Edie smiled then left with Skylar close behind.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Collapsing into my chair, I stared down at my desk.  What the hell was I going to do now?  As I contemplated all of the bad things that could come, I came to a realization.  Nothing had to happen.  I could go about my business and she could go about hers.  We didn\u2019t need to remember that steamy make-out session we had or the how it played on repeat in my dreams. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cMr. Hill!\u201d  Edie waved a file in front of me.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

I blinked at her forcing myself out of the fog of my thoughts.  \u201cYes?\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cHere is the Winston report.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThank you, E-\u201c <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Edie cut me off.  \u201cMr. Hill, what is going on with you and Ms. Albright?\u201d  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI don\u2019t know what you mean.\u201d  I focused on opening the report. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cUh huh.  I saw what went between the two of you.\u201d  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI don\u2019t-\u201c<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She cut me off again. \u201cI\u2019m old but my eyesight is perfect.  If this is going to be a problem, I can have her moved.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cNo!\u201d My voice came out a bit too loud.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cHmm\u2026well, I don\u2019t know what to say.  All I know is you need to keep this professional.  You don\u2019t need to end up like your brother.\u201d   Edie left in a huff. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Fuck me.  Maybe I should have just had her moved.  It was too much to think about so early in the morning.  I\u2019d have to see what happens then I could always get her moved. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cEason\u2026\u201d Wilder\u2019s voice called from the door.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

I looked up from my laptop.  \u201cWhat Wilder?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cCan\u2019t a brother come to visit?\u201d  He fell into the chair in front of my desk. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cNot if that brother is you.  What do you want?\u201d  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

He grinned.  \u201cI wanted to get the info on your new secretary.\u201d  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dammit.  For the last two hours I\u2019d tried to keep her from my thoughts.  I had only been mildly successful.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWhat about Ms. Albright?\u201d  I attempted to sound unaffected. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cCome on, Eason.  You can\u2019t tell me you haven\u2019t noticed her.  She\u2019s completely your type.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI\u2019ve been busy all day.  I can\u2019t say I\u2019ve seriously taken note of her appearance.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Wilder stared at me then a mischievous grin curled his lips.  \u201cSo you won\u2019t mind if I ask her out?\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWhat? No.\u201d  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cUh huh.  You didn\u2019t notice her huh.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

I sighed and leaned back in my chair.  \u201cFine.  I noticed her.  Can you go now?\u201d  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Wilder shook his head.  \u201cI\u2019ll never understand you, Eason.  You let too many chances pass you by.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cAnd you take more than enough chances for the both of us.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He stood from the chair.  \u201cThat may be true but I\u2019ll never be able to say what if.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

I watched as Wilder left my office but something made him freeze in the doorway.  What the hell was happening now?  I joined him to see what caused him to stop.  He glanced at me over his shoulder with a strange look.  Dylan was hugging Skylar.  What the fuck? <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWhat the fuck is going on here?\u201d  I pushed Wilder out of the way. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cHey, Eason!  I\u2019ve stopped by to take Skylar to lunch to celebrate her new position here.\u201d  Dylan smiled at me with his arm around her.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

My gaze met Skylar\u2019s.  \u201cI\u2019m taking my lunch now, Mr. Hill.  I will be back in an hour.\u201d  She grabbed her purse from the desk that Edie was sitting at.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cHave a nice lunch dear.  It was good seeing you, Mr. Newman.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I stood there stunned.  Skylar was involved with Dylan.  How the hell did I not know that Dylan was seeing someone?  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cBe back in an hour, Ms. Albright.\u201d  I snapped. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dylan gave me a quizzical look.  \u201cYou ok, Eason?\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cFine.\u201d  I spun on my heel and shut the door.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Through the door I heard Wilder say, \u201cMissed opportunities.\u201d\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n
