My novel, <i>Hyde, an Urban Fantasy<\/i> is the book I wanted to read\u2014tortured hero, spunky-but-confused heroine, mystery, humor, suspense, paranormal. Oh, and some really hot sex scenes. But one thing it\u2019s important for an author to accept is that readers are incredibly diverse. And that\u2019s actually a really wonderful thing.<\/p>\n<p>I\u2019m a picky reader. Like, really, really picky. Writing kind of does that to you. It makes it difficult to simply enjoy a book without thinking<i>: I would do this differently<\/i>, or <i>That just ain\u2019t right<\/i>. Honestly, for me that is probably the only negative part of writing. But then, when I <i>do<\/i> find a book that makes me forget I\u2019m reading and not actually <i>living<\/i> inside the story, that sucks me in on the first page and doesn\u2019t let go until I reach the end, it makes the read all the more enjoyable.<\/p>\n<p>Because\u2026<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Who doesn\u2019t love that tightness in your chest as you read an incredible action or love scene?<\/li>\n<li>Who hasn\u2019t had to take deep, calming breaths for the entire anxious ride home that seems three times as long as it did yesterday because all you want to do is get home and finish the book?<\/li>\n<li>Who hasn\u2019t cursed their own awkwardness and inability to carry a hardcover down the hallway because there was no way in hell you were going to stop reading just to do a silly little thing like go to the bathroom?<\/li>\n<li>Who hasn\u2019t wanted to put a hole in their television set because their significant other or their children won\u2019t lower the volume enough so they can just focus on a few more pages?<\/li>\n<li>Who doesn\u2019t enjoy the day after \u2018coming down\u2019 from a great read and, in every part of your life, see random reminders of the story that no one else who hasn\u2019t read the book would notice?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div>\n<p>Some people love cliffhangers, others hate them. Some people need a happy ending, others want the sexual tension to extend into multiple books. All of this goes to show that every reader is different. Every reader wants different things in a book.<\/p>\n<p>What kind of reader are you?
