The Book Maven: Today our guest is Collin Doyle from The Telepathic Clans Saga.<\/i><\/p>\n

The Book Maven: What is the name of the book where we’ll find you?<\/p>\n

Collin: I\u2019m in all of BR Kingsolver\u2019s books, The Succubus Gift, Succubus Unleashed, <\/i>and the new one, Succubus Rising. <\/i>\u00a0I\u2019m the love interest of Brenna O\u2019Donnell, the richest, most beautiful telepath\/succubus in the world.<\/p>\n

The Book Maven: Can you tell us a little about it?<\/p>\n

Collin: The Succubus Gift<\/i> is about a young woman\u2019s (Brenna) coming of age and discovering her telepathic powers. She\u2019s looking for love but also trying to deal with people who want to kill her. Succubus Unleashed<\/i> is a continuation of the story. As Brenna becomes comfortable with being a succubus and integrates into the Clan, her adventures and loves make up the story. Succubus Rising<\/i> is a bit more about our friend Rebecca and the conflicts between the telepathic Clans.<\/p>\n

The Book Maven: Tell us a little about yourself. Where do you fit into the story? What should we know about you?<\/p>\n

Collin: Well, as I said, I\u2019m Brenna\u2019s boyfriend. I\u2019m 35, though since telepaths age slowly, I look about 10 years younger. I\u2019m a powerful telepath in my own right, with 12 telepathic Gifts. I\u2019m tall and very fit with brown hair and blue eyes, a common combination for an Irishman. I\u2019m the Clan\u2019s Director of Security, head of the Protector force and one of the most accomplished computer hackers in the world.<\/p>\n

The Book Maven: So is this a paranormal romance novel? Do you and Brenna have a smooth or rocky path in your romance?<\/p>\n

Collin: It\u2019s more of an urban fantasy, since the romance isn\u2019t the prime story line. It\u2019s a little rocky. She\u2019s suspicious of me because I have so many girlfriends. It\u2019s not my fault, really. I\u2019m an incubus and women are naturally attracted to me. It\u2019s rude to say no to a woman, don\u2019t you think?<\/p>\n

The Book Maven: How do you feel about the story you’re in?<\/p>\n

Collin: I think it\u2019s a pretty good story. It\u2019s not a standard run-of-the-mill paranormal fantasy. It has a lot of unique ideas and BR lets the characters develop. I think the series was originally meant to be rather light-hearted, but it\u2019s taken on a darker side. I think it has most of what you\u2019d want in a story \u2013 humor, romance, danger, and the good guys win. I have the opportunity to show that I\u2019m not just strong, but gentle and caring.<\/p>\n

The Book Maven: Do you like being a character in the book?<\/p>\n

Collin: After being imprisoned in BR\u2019s mind for months, it\u2019s great to get out and meet the world. I do get to do a lot of exciting things, and I get to have a lot of sex, which is kind of nice. I wish people would stop trying to kill Brenna, though. What happened to romances where the heroine\u2019s greatest fear was having a hair out of place?<\/p>\n

The Book Maven: How do you see your future? Without giving anything away about the story, naturally.<\/p>\n

Collin: As I said earlier, I\u2019m going to be in a number of books. I\u2019m hoping that Brenna will understand that I really love her. I don\u2019t mind that she has a lot of lovers, so I don\u2019t think she should hold my little dalliances against me.<\/p>\n

A lot of people might think that Brenna and I have a weird romance because we\u2019re not sexually monogamous. Since we\u2019re a succubus and an incubus, we don\u2019t expect sexual fidelity from each other. But we are madly in love. When a telepath meets their soul mate, it\u2019s not just an expression. We\u2019ve merged our souls, and we\u2019ll always be connected.<\/p>\n

The Book Maven: What do you know about your author’s plans? Can we expect to see you in any future stories?<\/p>\n

Collin: \u00a0<\/i>BR says the 4th<\/sup> book about Brenna will come out in 2013, but I haven\u2019t seen the outline for that one. I assume it will tie up all the loose ends from the first three books, and since it\u2019s about Brenna, I\u2019ll be there.<\/p>\n

The Book Maven: Let’s say they make a movie about this book. Who do you want to play you, and why?<\/p>\n

Collin: Wow, that\u2019s a hard one. Matthew McConaughey, maybe, or Matt Damon. You don\u2019t want to be portrayed by someone who can\u2019t act.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Review:<\/h3>\n

The Succubus Gift<\/em> is a great book for the beginning of this series. \u00a0It’s a very entertaining read with many memorable characters. \u00a0B.R Kingsolver does a wonderful job creating this world hidden within the modern world. \u00a0From the moment when Brenna saves her cousin to meeting Collin for the very first time to learning how powerful she could truly be. \u00a0It is one great twist after another. \u00a0Also, I really enjoyed how the complex relationships between characters were demonstrated. \u00a0For instance the relationship between Brenna and Rebecca is a complex and deep relationship that this book only skims over. \u00a0I would be remiss in my review if I also didn’t bring in the extremely hot Collin and his relationship with Brenna. \u00a0Though through descriptions I can totally understand why all woman fall at his feet. \u00a0 \u00a0After reading the first in the series I have to read the rest of the books. \u00a0Unfortunately I didn’t get a chance to before I had this tour date but take my word that I will be finishing this series soon.<\/p>\n

I made silver and turquoise jewelry for almost a decade, ended up in nursing school, then took a master\u2019s in business. Along the way I worked in construction, as a newspaper editor, a teacher, and somehow found a career working with computers.<\/p>\n

I love the outdoors, especially the Rocky Mountains. I\u2019ve skied since high school and I\u2019ve hiked and camped all my life. I love to travel, though I haven\u2019t done enough of it. I\u2019ve seen a lot of Russia and Mexico, not enough of England. Amsterdam is amazing, and the Romanian Alps are breathtaking. Lake Tahoe is a favorite, and someday I\u2019d like to see Banff in Canada.<\/p>\n

I have a very significant other, two cats and two Basset Hounds. I\u2019m currently living in Baltimore, nine blocks from the harbor, but still own a home in New Mexico that I see too infrequently.<\/p>\n
