Today I have the pleasure of hosting a review stop for Dying to Dream by Kathryn Long.\u00a0 This was a great paranormal mystery that kept you guessing up until the last page.\u00a0 Kathryn Long has a terrific mastery of mystery.\u00a0 She leads you on a journey just like her characters.\u00a0 Be sure to check out the rest of my review after the Book Blurb.<\/p>\n

Take a strong dose of mystery, add a bit of the paranormal, flavor it with southern\u00a0<\/span>charm, then heat it up with romance and you have Dying to Dream.<\/p>\n

When Jack Robesaux is found lying dead on a Louisiana beach, psychic, Marin Seurat, must\u00a0<\/span>use her gift to prove it is murder and not suicide. Though Marin knows her dreams with their\u00a0messages from the dead could help, she struggles with the idea of returning home and facing a\u00a0troubled past. However, a phone call informing her of Jack’s murder and the return of the family\u00a0curse gives Marin that final push. In a surprising turn of events, Marin discovers a mystery from\u00a0long ago that somehow connects to recent deaths. With the help of cryptic messages delivered by\u00a0spirits, Marin races to solve the mystery of Saint Toulere.<\/p>\n

Review:<\/h2>\n

Dying to Dream is a roller coaster of a mystery.\u00a0 From the moment we meet Marin we know she is different.\u00a0 She has a talent.\u00a0 The psychic talent of connecting with ghosts or spirits while she sleeps.\u00a0 Though this can be very inconsistent.\u00a0When Jack Robesaux\u00a0is found dead it\u00a0sets a whole slew of events in motion.\u00a0Most of these events encircle Marin and Marin’s family. \u00a0It is from this moment on that we know that this story is not your everyday mystery.\u00a0 This mystery with a bit of paranormal thrown in was unique and entertaining.\u00a0 I highly enjoyed the characters and the story.\u00a0 Though this story was entertaining I did find that at times the paranormal seemed just thrown in there.\u00a0 I feel this story probably could have been done without Marin being a psychic but it did add\u00a0a level to both the story and the characters that produced a nice depth.\u00a0 I enjoyed all the characters from Marin to Trent to Tante\u00a0Louise.\u00a0 They were all very well-written and grew as the story went on.\u00a0 Even though I felt the story was fluid, entertaining and well-written I felt that in the end the story fell\u00a0a little flat.\u00a0 It tied up all the loose ends but some of it felt more forced than most of the story.\u00a0 Overall, I enjoyed this book and would recommend it for those who enjoy a mystery with a bit of paranormal thrown in.<\/p>\n

Dying to Dream grew from the author\u2019s strong interest in \u201cghost hunting\u201d and participating in\u00a0<\/span>several ghost tours. Her knowledge of French and Spanish and love of foreign cultures helped\u00a0<\/span>create more colorful characters in the book and add to their authenticity.<\/div>\n
