Ok everyone today is the day you and I have been waiting for.\u00a0 Today I have the great privilege to have Gena Showalter and I got the awesome chance to read her sequel to her book Alice in Zombieland<\/em>, Through the Zombie Glass<\/em>.\u00a0 I’m a huge fan of Gena’s and feel very privileged that she granted me this interview.\u00a0 I love a lot of her Adult works, but today I am focusing on her newer Young Adult works with the second book in her White Rabbit Chronicles series.\u00a0 I didn’t get a chance to put up a review of Alice in Zombieland<\/em> but for those who haven’t read it I am going to post the book blurb for both books.\u00a0 Through the Zombie Glass<\/em>\u00a0is a fantastic follow-up in this series.\u00a0 It answers some of our already numerous questions and leaves us with some new ones.\u00a0 Be sure to check out my review (may contain spoilers) after the book blurb.\u00a0 But, first enjoy my interview with Gena Showalter.\u00a0 Through the Zombie Glass<\/em> hits shelves on September 24th.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

Thank you for stopping by today. \u00a0I have to say I\u2019m having a big fangirl moment right now with the chance to interview you. \u00a0I love your books, especially Lords of the Underworld and The White Rabbit Chronicles.<\/p>\n

GS: \u201cStop, please, you\u2019re embarrassing me,\u201d Gena says as she waves you on to continue. LOL\u00a0<\/p>\n

1.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 What inspired Alice in Zombieland, the first book in the White Rabbit Chronicles?\u00a0<\/p>\n

GS: \u00a0The title. \u00a0No, seriously. I was on the phone with the gorgeous and talented Kresley\u00a0Cole and we were talking about titles for my next adult romance. \u00a0I said, \u201cWe\u2019re going to call it Alice in Zombieland.\u201d \u00a0There was a pause. \u00a0Then she told me I had to write that book, and since my darling Kresley is never wrong, I knew she was right!<\/p>\n

2. \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 I love Kat. \u00a0Is she or any of other characters based on people you know or even yourself? And if there is a Cole out there can you point him in my direction?\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

GS: \u00a0You know, pieces of my family and me do<\/i> seep into my characters. \u00a0In fact, after my younger sister read Alice in Zombieland<\/i>, she called me and told me she laughed when she read a snippet from a certain conversation\u2014because years ago she had said the same thing to our mother.\u00a0<\/p>\n

3. \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 I noticed in both Alice in Zombieland and Through the Zombie Glass that there were visions that have yet to come true. \u00a0Will we be seeing those in future books?\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

GS: \u00a0Absolutely! \u00a0I should tie up all the lose ends in book three (no title as of yet).\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

4. \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 In Through the Zombie Glass, there are many parts that have you wanting to strangle Cole and a few other characters *cough* Veronica *cough* and Alice seems to have to prove herself over and over. \u00a0Will there ever be a time when Alice is truly part of the team and not questioned?\u00a0<\/p>\n

GS: \u00a0I sooooo want to spill details about book three right now. \u00a0But I can\u2019t. \u00a0Well, maybe\u2026 No, no. \u00a0Bad Gena! \u00a0I can\u2019t. \u00a0I\u2019ve just started writing the book, and too many details could change, but oh, man, wait till you see what Ali does!! \u00a0And Cole in book three\u2026seriously, I should not be talking about this LOL But I will leave you with a single word to describe him in the book: shiver.<\/p>\n

5. \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 I know that the majority of books you write are geared toward adult audiences. But, you do have several young adult series\u2019. \u00a0\u00a0Does your writing process change between the two genres?\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

GS: \u00a0Nope. \u00a0No matter what type of book I\u2019m writing, my process is the same. \u00a0Get up, and write until I\u2019ve met my word\/page count for the day, no matter how long that takes. \u00a0Plus, it\u2019s kind of safe to say that my adult characters are a bit immature\u2014we all know it\u2019s true LOL\u2014so whether I\u2019m writing adults or young adults, my mind set is the same: write the best book I possibly can!<\/p>\n

6. \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Of the books I have read of yours I have a few characters that I love and stick with me. \u00a0Strider, Kat and Corbin Blue are among my faves. \u00a0Out of the many books you have written do you have favorite characters and\/or not so favorite characters?\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

GS: \u00a0I do! \u00a0William from the Lords of the Underworld series has always been my favorite. \u00a0He is powerful, sexy, and irreverent. \u00a0He kills his enemies without batting an eye, and stabs his friends (literally) for grins and giggs. \u00a0He is a mystery. \u00a0He is a he-slut, and he\u2019s never been in love. \u00a0But oh, when finally he falls\u2026he\u2019s going to get what\u2019s coming to him. \u00a0A swift kick between the legs, and a happily ever after.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

But I also have a huge cougar crush on Cole from Through the Zombie Glass. \u00a0I could seriously eat him up.<\/p>\n

7. \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Ok\u2026now I am gonna ask you just a couple fun\/silly questions. \u00a0Do you have any guilty pleasures?\u00a0<\/p>\n

GS: I broke my addiction to coffee, so it\u2019s been two years since I\u2019ve had a cup. A week ago, I could have said, \u201ctwo years since I\u2019ve had a sip,\u201d but, well, the other day\u2026Anyway. \u00a0Moving on. \u00a0I adore homemade chocolate chip cookies. And brownies. \u00a0And vanilla ores. \u00a0Wait. \u00a0I\u2019m sensing a pattern. Let\u2019s just say my guilty pleasure is food.<\/p>\n

8. \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Can you share with me three things that not many people know about you?\u00a0<\/p>\n

GS: I wear sweat pants, even in summer. I once stole the Christmas decorations from my parent\u2019s house and put them at my house (as a joke). \u00a0And New Girl is currently my favorite sitcom.<\/p>\n

9. \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Since you are already an accomplished writer. \u00a0If you ever had to give that up what other career would you choose?\u00a0<\/p>\n

GS: Ryan Gossling\u2019s YES girl. \u00a0He will say: Should I take off my shirt. \u00a0I will say: YES.<\/p>\n

10. \u00a0\u00a0 Finally, if Alice and the boys were ever made into a movie who would be the ultimate \u201cdream team\u201d cast (Past or Present actors and\/or actresses)\u00a0<\/p>\n

GS: That\u2019s such a tough question. \u00a0I haven\u2019t been watching many movies lately (I\u2019ve been working too many hours), so I\u2019m a bit behind on who\u2019s who. \u00a0But I\u2019m a big Lily Collins fan. \u00a0And I think Alex Pettyfer is gorgeous. \u00a0They\u2019d make a very sexy Ali and Cole.<\/p>\n

In Gena Showalter’s follow-up to Alice in Zombieland<\/em> we find ourselves right where we left off.\u00a0 Ali is recovering and Cole and the gang are out hunting.\u00a0 The only problem is Ali begins to know that something is wrong.\u00a0 Ali is beginning to see things in mirrors and hear voices she shouldn’t.\u00a0 While Ali is dealing with these new problems she is also dealing with her grief over the many losses that have happened to her over the year.\u00a0 When her and Coles visions disappear and she begins to have them with a newcomer things get really bad for Ali.\u00a0 She not only has to deal with everything she has been going through but her relationship with both Cole and the rest of the hunters is in serious danger of falling apart.\u00a0 While Ali continues to fight zombies she also must fight the evil inside her.\u00a0 Can Ali pull herself together by herself or with she let those around her help her with her struggles?\u00a0 If Ali can survive this she will have scars she may never recover from unless let’s healing go soul deep.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Through the Zombie Glass<\/em>\u00a0I could not put down.\u00a0 This is everything you want in a follow-up.\u00a0 It moves the story along, gives us conflict and answers enough questions to create more questions.\u00a0 I love this series even more by reading this book.\u00a0 Many times throughout\u00a0this book I could feel those old teenage feelings coming back.\u00a0 Especially with Cole and Ali’s relationship.\u00a0 There were definitely times I wanted to both strangle and kiss Cole.\u00a0 There were a lot of times in this book my heart really broke for Ali.\u00a0 She really goes through a lot of trials in this book.\u00a0 Just when you think she’s getting accepted by those like her she is kicked out in the cold again.\u00a0 There are also a lot of surprises in this book both good and bad.\u00a0 I promise I am not gonna give much away but I can tell you this and enemy becomes a friend again.\u00a0 Overall, the character and story development was phenomenally strong and really propels everything in a forward direction.\u00a0 I will warn you all this though after reading this you will want the next book like yesterday.\u00a0 I know I got an advanced copy and still want the next book now.\u00a0 That’s just how great a story-teller\u00a0Gena Showalter\u00a0is.\u00a0 She has yet another wonderful edition and if you like me, loved Alice in Zombieland <\/em>you will LOVE Through the Zombie Glass<\/em>.\u00a0<\/p>\n
