With one parent of royal blood, she&#8217;s not nobility, yet not a servant either. The only comfort in her mundane existence is her love of Critons, the large fire-breathing creatures that protect the border of her homeland. But her destiny changes forever the day she catches the eye of King Marek Duncan.<\/p>\n<p>Marek&#8217;s heart is closed to love. After an arranged marriage withers to a bitter end, he dedicates his energy to protecting his kingdom. Yet he&#8217;s searching for something more&#8211;the Caller of Light, the one who summons Critons.<\/p>\n<p>Carina&#8217;s beauty and willfulness intrigue Marek, and he&#8217;s determined to have her. When his enemies try to come between them, he discovers just how much he will endure to protect her. Together, they can unlock a love that binds their souls, but only if they find the strength to follow their hearts<\/p>\n<h2>Review:<\/h2>\n<p>Carina&#8217;s world has been her love of the Critons.\u00a0 The flying beasts that can be bonded with their riders are assets to any kingdom that has them.\u00a0 Carina is the half-blood royal that is treated less than a servant.\u00a0 But, the one day she goes out riding her Criton\u00a0she encounters the incoming King Marek\u00a0Duncan.\u00a0 While riding his own Criton, Marek is intrigued by the woman who he finds riding a Criton.\u00a0 After a chase, Carina thinks she has lost the incoming rider.\u00a0 When dismounts near the Criton\u00a0stables she sees a strange Criton.\u00a0 When she approaches she also meets his rider.\u00a0 Soon Carina learns that rider is the King who has come to court her sister.\u00a0 But, that information comes too late when she is already developing feelings with the handsome king.\u00a0 With a swift decision Marek changes his intentions from Carina&#8217;s half-sister to Carina herself and she is destined to leave to become Marek&#8217;s mistress.\u00a0 Though at first light it seems to be an ideal situation until malicious and wrong information taints what is developing between Marek and Carina.\u00a0 Can they salvage what they have and become something greater than the two of them or will outside forces pull them apart.<\/p>\n<p>This was a wonderful start to a series.\u00a0 I can&#8217;t wait for more.\u00a0 Though I don&#8217;t know if more is coming when the story ends you just know there has to be more coming with what happens.\u00a0 Carina and Marek&#8217;s love story is sizzling hot.\u00a0 I thought my Nook was going to smoke at parts during this story.\u00a0 It isn&#8217;t just the story between Carina and Marek that is awesome.\u00a0 The lands and the unique people they come across on their journey back to Marek&#8217;s land is wonderful.\u00a0 I loved the visuals that are described both from land and air.\u00a0 Overall, this is a great start to a new series.\u00a0 It has a lot of potential and I can&#8217;t wait to see what TJ Shaw does next.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Another great Monday read for you guys today.\u00a0 It&#8217;s a paranormal romance with creatures and lands you may not have read about in other stories.\u00a0 Caller of Light by TJ Shaw is a great story that will take you soaring on the backs of mythical beasts to lands unheard of until now.\u00a0 So, with your&#8230;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"content-type":"","footnotes":""},"categories":[3],"tags":[257,1174,1678],"class_list":["post-1983","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-book-reviews","tag-caller-of-light","tag-paranormal-romance","tag-tj-shaw"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v26.6 -
