I know today’s review is a bit late, but Day Five’s review is The Underground City<\/em> by H.P Mallory.\u00a0 This is the second book in her Lily Harper series.\u00a0 I just adore H.P Mallory.\u00a0 All of her stories are full of fun and sass that makes you want to read more.\u00a0 I have read all three of her series’.\u00a0 This second installment does what H.P does best it makes the story even more exciting and develops the characters and storyline until your begging her for the next book.\u00a0 Be sure to keep reading after the book blurb for my review.\u00a0 And don’t forget about my giveaway still going on.\u00a0 Only a little over a week left.<\/p>\n

Abandon Hope, All Ye Who Enter Here\u2026<\/span><\/p>\n

Lily Harper narrowly survived her first mission as a Soul Retriever in the first level of the Underground City. After that harrowing trip, she wants nothing more than some down-time, but as with most things involving the afterlife, nothing ever quite works out the way Lily wants it to.<\/p>\n

Her newest mission will see her traveling to the sewer aqueduct of the Underground City and later, the prison. But, luckily for Lily, she\u2019s got the hunky yet antisocial bladesmith, Tallis Black, by her side. And quite possibly unluckily for her, she\u2019s also got her guardian angel, Bill, who\u2019s up to his old, foul-mouthed antics.<\/p>\n

Between learning how to wield her sword, personal training with a hot-headed demon, traveling to the Underground City not one but two times and discovering that the leader of the Underground City harbors a curious fascination with her, Lily\u2019s hope was abandoned a long time ago.<\/p>\n

Review:<\/h2>\n

The Underground City<\/em> takes up where Better off Dead<\/em> left us.\u00a0 Tallis has come to see Lily and not for the reasons Bill assumes.\u00a0 Tallis has come to continue training her and has a surprise in an additional trainer.\u00a0 Tallis will train Lily in the sword and her other trainer will turn her body into a lean fighting weapon.\u00a0 Lily can handle the first part its the second part that has her bulking.\u00a0 That is until she receives her next assignment.\u00a0 Lily is being made to go back to The Underground City to retrieve another soul.\u00a0 Only this one is located in the second level.\u00a0 Unsure of how to get back in since her previous trip burned a bridge or two, Tallis uses his indepth knowledge to get them to that level but it requires some really dirty work.\u00a0 Once they are there they come across a minion of the Leader of The Underground City.\u00a0 Lily is being summoned to meet the mysterious leader.\u00a0 For Lily dealing with the enigmatic leader is all in a days work.\u00a0 She does after all have to deal with a malcontented, sexy, yet so frustrating, Tallis and the never helpful, always pain in the ass, guardian Angel Bill.\u00a0 All Lily is sure of is that it’s not going to be easy retrieving all of souls to get herself out her contract.<\/p>\n

I love these characters.\u00a0 H.P Mallory has such a way of creating characters that will excite and frustrate you.\u00a0 I adore Tallis but I can’t wait until we start really discovering who he is.\u00a0 Bill as always is entertaining.\u00a0 His use\/misuse of the English language is always hilarious and most of the time quite funny and confusing.\u00a0 This second book in this series did a fantastic job in propelling the story onto the next level.\u00a0 It introduced new characters and developed the existing ones to keep the story interesting.\u00a0 Lily’s adventures in soul retrieving is so fun and entertaining.\u00a0 I have to say that my favorite part of this series is the use of Dante’s Inferno and his circles\u00a0of hell.\u00a0 It definitely makes it unique read and great series that H.P Mallory has yet again created.\u00a0 Overall, a great story and wonderful series.\u00a0 If you’ve never read any of H.P Mallory’s books you are definitely missing out on a fun and exciting read.<\/p>\n
