Lily Singer has never belonged. Taken from her tribe as a child and raised in a white man\u2019s school, she no longer has a place in either world. Teaching has become her life. When that life is threatened by rumors and prejudice after a string of robberies, she must turn for help to the one man who spells disaster for her carefully ordered existence. Will he save her or steal her heart?<\/span><\/p>\n

Christian Avery, Justice of the Peace, is used to having things his way. Cold Springs is his responsibility, and when its citizens blame the local Indian population for the mysterious robberies, it\u2019s up to him to restore order and maintain calm. The one person who refuses to follow his lead is the beautiful, native-born Lily. Her defiance turns his life upside down and ravages his heart.<\/p>\n

But when town gossip shifts from robberies to romance after a foolish indiscretion, Lily\u2019s job and reputation are on the line. She must choose between the only life she has ever known and the only place she has ever felt at home, in Christian\u2019s arms<\/p>\n

Review:<\/h2>\n

Christian Avery has been a thorn in Lily Singer’s side ever since she became the teacher in Cold Springs.\u00a0 He is constantly challenging her and her progressive views.\u00a0 But, its not just Christian she must fight.\u00a0 Her heritage and skin color is a challenge for many to accept.\u00a0 So, when robberies start happening and the local Indians are being pegged as the perpetrators Lily is thrust into a political climate that could end with her losing her job.\u00a0 As the turmoil progresses so does her relationship with Christian.\u00a0 Their spark becomes a flame in more ways than one.\u00a0 But, can their love save her, her job and the town or will it just leave ashes behind?<\/p>\n

I really loved this story.\u00a0 I’m a sucker for a good historical romance and this is definitely one of those.\u00a0 I loved Christian and Lily.\u00a0 Their fiery relationship was great.\u00a0 I loved that Lily didn’t just fall all over herself around Christian and Christian didn’t pull punches (verbal) when he sparred with Lily.\u00a0 I think another great level to this book was the historical significance of interracial marriage between native Americans and whites during this time period.\u00a0 In today’s day and age I think we forget how tumultuous loving someone who didn’t look like you effected not just your relationship but those around you and quite possibly your livelihood.\u00a0\u00a0 This aspect is beautifully portrayed.\u00a0 Overall, I think this was a fantastic novel and now I’d like to go back and read more by Merry Farmer.\u00a0 I know once you pick this up you won’t let it go until the final page is turned.\u00a0<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
