Cyrene has a plan.\u00a0 She needs to find out more about herself.\u00a0 What she doesn’t plan is how complicated things will get after leaving Byern and her life as an Affiliate to the Queen.\u00a0 As her adventure begins things that have only been myths to her are now very real.\u00a0 What Cyrene doesn’t realize is though she ran away from being an Affiliate her life in Byern and those who still obsess about her are doing everything to bring her back.\u00a0 In the end will she find what she needs and what will she lose to get that?
\nThere is always a lot of anticipation when the second book in an ongoing series.\u00a0 This definitely will not disappoint.\u00a0 This book picks up exactly where The Affiliate<\/em> leaves off.\u00a0 Cyrene is getting even closer to the answers she is looking for.\u00a0 With her friends and new acquaintances around her she becomes to feel confident.\u00a0 This is definitely a new level to her.\u00a0 The Bound also explores more of the world.\u00a0 We meet new “creatures” and new lands.\u00a0 This book truly opens up the world that Cyrene is in.\u00a0 I loved how all of the characters are affected in different ways by the one event of Cyrene leaving.\u00a0 Overall, this is a phenomenal second book and I can’t wait for the next one in the series.

Staggering down the hallway, she didn\u2019t even look up when she heard her name.
\n\u201cHmm?\u201d she asked.
\n\u201cCyrene, there you are!\u201d
\nSomeone grabbed her shoulders, and she tipped her head to look up into the most beautiful face. She smiled and felt a renewed burst of energy flow through her.
\n\u201cHey,\u201d she whispered.
\n\u201cHey,\u201d he said, threading his fingers through hers. A shiver ran up her back. He glanced around the empty hallway and then tugged her away from the main corridors. She turned a corner, and he pressed her back into a darkened alcove. His mouth was only inches from hers.
\nHer exhaustion was wearing off from the excitement of being with him.
\n\u201cI was really worried about you,\u201d he breathed.
\n\u201cYou don\u2019t have to worry about me,\u201d she said, trapped in his gaze. She teetered on her tiptoes and nearly brushed their lips together. Her heart was racing ahead of her. This felt almost better than reaching for her magic. Definitely better than moving one drop of water at a time all day.
\n\u201cYou\u2019re wrong.\u201d Then, he softly dropped his mouth down on hers. His lips were tender and slow as they caressed hers. \u201cI will always worry for your safety.\u201d
\nCyrene\u2019s cheeks heated, and she sighed, leaning back against the hard stone of the alcove. \u201cI didn\u2019t mean to worry you.\u201d
\nHis hands pushed up through her hair and tilted her head back up to look at him. She closed her eyes and sighed. She was so tired, and just the feel of his fingers was lulling her to sleep.
\n\u201cThat feels good.\u201d
\nHis mouth found hers, and despite her exhaustion, she pushed back against his lips with more force. She refused to let the fact that she was tired get in the way of her time with him.
\n\u201cWhoa,\u201d he said, pulling back from her. He rested his forehead against hers, and she could tell he was breathing heavily. \u201cAs much as I want this, and I do, I want to make sure you\u2019re okay. This didn\u2019t scare you away?\u201d
\nShe shook her head. \u201cThis, most certainly, does not scare me.\u201d Then, she kissed him again for good measure.
\nHe laughed. \u201cGood. Because I\u2019ve been wanting to kiss you since I first met you.\u201d
