Nic loves his bachelor lifestyle.\u00a0 He can screw anyone he wants, whenever he wants.\u00a0 When he walks into Gabi’s Italian bakery he finds more than just the cannoli appetizing.\u00a0 They are floored the moment they meet.\u00a0 Neither have ever felt this way.\u00a0 But, Nic knows that his mother will have a horrible reaction to her being Italian.\u00a0 Gabi has her own secrets and worries.\u00a0 Can the two of them find their way through secrets and family meddling to find the true love that is there?
\nI loved this story.\u00a0 This is a fantastic mix of My Big Fat Greek Wedding and Good Fellas.\u00a0 It was funny, romantic, sexy and intriguing.\u00a0 This story will grab hold and not let go until you have finally saw if Nic and Gabi live happily ever after.\u00a0 Gabi and Nic will help you believe in soul mates\/ true love.\u00a0 That feeling that you feel for only one person.\u00a0 One of the best parts of this was how Gabi changed.\u00a0 In the beginning she is shy and very guarded (which you will find out why) but soon enough she is giving Nic’s very intrusive mother sass right back.\u00a0 This is a great summer read.\u00a0 Not quite a quick beach read but definitely one you will want to pick up for a week long vacation.\u00a0 You will love Gabi, Nic and his family as much as I did.<\/p>\n

My eyes swung over to look at my mother standing there with my aunt Maria and Aunt Agnes.
\n\u201cShit,\u201d I whispered.
\n\u201cOh God. This is not<\/em> happening. This is it!\u201d Gabi exclaimed as she covered her mouth.
\nI placed my hands on her shoulders and leaned in closer. In a whispered voice, I asked, \u201cWhat is wrong?\u201d
\nHer eyes met mine. \u201cThis is her challenge! I thought it was that day in the bakery. That was a merely a test! She\u2019s here to take me down!\u201d
\nI laughed. \u201cMy mother is not here to take you down.\u201d
\nShe slowly shook her head and asked, \u201cHow did she know?\u201d
\nThen we both turned to look at Liza. She took a step away. \u201cYou didn\u2019t.\u201d
\nLiza\u2019s eyes were everywhere. Me, my mother, back to Gabi, back to my mother. \u201cI might have mentioned it that day in the bakery when she was there. But she saw the registration form and asked if you had entered! I didn\u2019t know I wasn\u2019t supposed to say.\u201d

\nGabi took in a slow deep breath before turning and facing my mother and aunts.
\nWith my hand on her back, we walked closer. \u201cMama, this is a surprise to see you here.\u201d
\nShe looked taken aback. \u201cWhy? I love to cook, this is a cooking competition. Why wouldn\u2019t I be here?\u201d
\n\u201cBecause you\u2019ve never entered one before.\u201d
\nThe three of them laughed. \u201cPlease. Your mama has won more cooking competitions than anyone in this room.\u201d
\nGabi swayed, and I tightened my grip on her.
\nWhen my mother turned to look at Gabi, she wore a wide smile. \u201cSo, with you being a part of our family, I want to make sure you come in second so I\u2019ve brought you some help.\u201d
\nOh for shits sake.<\/em>
\n\u201cHelp?\u201d Gabi asked with a strained voice.
\nAnd before our eyes appeared my cousins Sophia and Angie, and just when I didn\u2019t think it could get worse, cousin Maria walked up carrying a giant bag with some rat looking dog in it.
\n\u201cUm, I don\u2019t think you can have a dog in here,\u201d Liza said.
\nEveryone turned and looked at cousin Maria. \u201cAre you shitting me? I don\u2019t go anywhere without my Nikky.\u201d
\n\u201cGabriella, this is Aunt Maria and Aunt Agnes.\u201d
\nGabi reached her hand out to theirs.
\n\u201cAhh! You made it!\u201d my mother called out as her best friend came walking up. I couldn\u2019t help but groan.
\n\u201cGabriella, this is my very dear friend, Maria.\u201d
\nI didn\u2019t think Gabi could look any more confused. \u201cOh, um, another Maria! That\u2019s a lot of Maria\u2019s under one roof.\u201d They all stared at her like they didn\u2019t get it.
\nThey fucking got it.
\n\u201cAll right, well now that the gang is here, Mama you should be heading on over to your station.\u201d
\n\u201cYou\u2019re not coming over there with me?\u201d
\nGabi\u2019s head jerked to the side to look at me. Oh shit. What the hell do I do?<\/em>
\nI did the only thing I knew to do. I looked for guidance from Liza. My eyes were wide as she motioned to Gabi.
\nRight. Right. I needed to stay with Gabi.
\n\u201cWell, Mama, I was planning on helping Gabi and being here for moral support with this being her first competition and all.\u201d Gabi glared at me.
\nShit, what did I do now?<\/em>
\nThen my mother turned back to Gabi. \u201cFirst, huh?\u201d My heart dropped in my chest. That\u2019s why Gabi shot me a dirty look. \u201cWell, I better let you get going then. Good luck.\u201d
\nWith a full-on smile, Gabi nodded. \u201cThanks! You too. And may the best cook win.\u201d
\nTossing her head back and laughing before looking back at Gabi, my mother said, \u201cOh, I will.\u201d<\/p>\n
