Pruitt<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p><span style=\"font-family:Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;\">\u00a0Jude Magdalyn Henries lives what many would call an unconventional life.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p><span style=\"font-family:Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;\">Orphaned at birth, raised by nuns, a teenage runaway living on the streets&#8230; she now earns a living at odd jobs, including one as a fake tarot card reader. Very little about Jude&#8217;s life appears normal, by any scale.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p><span style=\"font-family:Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;\">\u00a0When she accepts a gig to do a private reading, unconventional takes on an entirely new meaning. Life as she knows it ends when she&#8217;s thrust into a world she never knew existed-one filled with magic, vampires, and her beloved New Orleans on the verge of an underground war.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p><span style=\"font-family:Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;\">\u00a0To make matters worse, she&#8217;s got two men in her life vying for attention, Williams and Theo. Both call to a different part of her, but one scares her just a little bit.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p><span style=\"font-family:Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;\">\u00a0Can she step up to the challenges set before her and make the right choices for the greatergreater good?<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Review:<\/p>\n<p>I loved the beginning of this series.\u00a0 It left me straining for the next book.\u00a0 Thank goodness it is out and I can keep reading on in this story.\u00a0 L.M Pruitt&#8217;s story of an orphaned grifter\/charlatan who ends up being the Prophecy for an organization she didn&#8217;t even know existed.\u00a0 Jude is just coming into powers she didn&#8217;t know existed and is now thrust into a politically volatile, very violent and dangerous situation.\u00a0 Not to mention the two extremely hot men that are vying for her attention.\u00a0 Jude must eventually come to a decision on whether she will accept her destiny and rule a divided group or run for the hills.<\/p>\n<p>This was a very impressive beginning to a series.\u00a0 L.M Pruitt didn&#8217;t try to cram more information than necessary and left enough questions that you want to run back and continue the series.\u00a0 I have seen it too often that an author tries to put every possible scenario into their first book in a series and it becomes too confusing and you have too many questions that get lost in the subsequent books.\u00a0 I am happy to say that is definitely not that case.\u00a0 L.M Pruitt&#8217;s use of post Katrina New Orleans is reminiscent of some of Sherrilyn Kenyon&#8217;s Dark Hunter novels.\u00a0 Also, her character development of Jude, Williams and Theo is awesome.\u00a0 They are not fully formed with will allow more growth throughout the novels in the series.<\/p>\n<p>Overall, this was a wonderful book and I can&#8217;t wait to read <em>Shades of Desire<\/em> and <em>Shades of Blood<\/em>.\u00a0 I would recommend this series and if her other series&#8217; are as good then I look forward to reading those also.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><span style=\"font-family:Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family:Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;\"><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/bookmaven623.files.wordpress.com\/2012\/09\/dscn0093.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-853\" title=\"DSCN0093\" src=\"http:\/\/bookmaven623.files.wordpress.com\/2012\/09\/dscn0093.jpg?w=300\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" \/><\/a>About the Author<\/strong>:<\/span><\/p>\n<div>\n<p><span style=\"font-family:Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;\">L.M. Pruitt has been reading and writing for as long as she can remember. A native of Florida with a love of New Orleans, she has the uncanny ability to find humor in most things and would probably kill a plastic plant. She is the author of the best-selling Jude Magdalyn series, the Moon Rising series, and the Frankie Post series. She is currently at work on the next Jude Magdalyn book, Shades of Blood.
