Happy Friday Everyone! Today’s spotlight is on Michaela Debelius and her book Perpetual, book 1 in the Revoker Series. This is wonderful start to a unique series. It was a highly enjoyable read and I can’t wait for the next book in the series to come out. Be sure to check out my whole review after the book blurb.

“Some people say they don’t care. I actually mean it.”
Mercy Green didn’t become this way overnight. Centuries of monotonous life have left her jaded and detached. Humans weren’t meant to live forever. But then again, she isn’t human. Adam is though, and his purity baffles her. How can he remain unpolluted in a world tarnished by corruption? It doesn’t matter. Her time in Birchwood Creek is coming to an end and she must prepare to relocate. That is, until she inexplicably wakes up in a pool of her own blood. The answer seems simple enough: leave immediately. But when an attempt is made on Adam’s life, a failed murder she inadvertently caused, she feels obligated to stay and protect him.
But then she’s attacked again.
And Adam begins to ask questions.
Victim to an unseen stalker, Mercy’s forced to seek help from Nick, an immortal teenager whose sudden appearance suspiciously coincides with her plunge into chaos. With her structured life unraveling and revelation of her immortality looming, Mercy must accept the truth: she’s being hunted. But why?
…And she thought immortality was boring.
Review:
Perpetual was a highly enjoyable a read. It is definitely the beginning of a great series. Michaela has set up her story so that it can go in many different directions and let’s face it the characters are immortal so the future is wide open. The story begins with Mercy comforting Adam after a bad break up. It isn’t long after this that Mercy begins to run in the first of a few immortals like herself. She has always tried to evade other immortals because they seem to always cause trouble or want to involve her in some kind of trouble. Nick is the first immortal she encounters in her small town. But, he is not the only one in town and she soon finds her once secluded life turned upside down by new friends, new lover, new powers and new dangers.
I really loved the story. I felt it was quite unique. The idea of just immortals that weren’t a paranormal entity was refreshing. I also loved the development of the love story between Mercy and Adam. You really find yourself rooting for their story to take off. I also loved Nick. He is a great character. He adds so much to the story and really pushes it along in some places. I can’t wait to learn more about him. Overall, this was a wonderful start to what I can see being a successful series. The story and its characters are exciting, fast paced and keep you guessing until the very end. If you like Urban Fantasy or Paranormal Romance you will want to pick up Perpetual.

A note from Michaela:
“As a child, books were a form of escapism. No matter what troubles may have found me I was only a page turn away from a place where bad people got punished, good people were rewarded, and everything ended with a happily ever after.
I believe there is nothing better than a book that engrosses you. It should be so titillating you’re thinking about it at work, relishing in the thought of getting home and snuggling into bed with a delicious three hundred pages of bliss. That is what I hope to offer you. Thank you for giving me that opportunity.”
So slip into something comfortable, but don’t forget to leave a light on because this is heat that will give you the chills.
