Today I have yet another phenomenal novel for you. This is book one in this series and believe me when I say you will be demanding book two as soon as you finish the final sentence. In Free Me, Laurelin Page weaves an erotic romance with so many twists and turns that you won’t be able to put the book down. For my full review keep reading after the book blurb.
Book Blurb:
Screw fairytales. The only reward Gwen Anders got from her rough childhood was a thick skin and hard heart. She’s content with her daily grind managing a top NYC nightclub—Eighty-Eighth Floor. So hers isn’t a happily ever after. She doesn’t believe in those anyway.
Then she meets J.C.
The rich, smooth talking playboy is the sexiest thing that Gwen has ever encountered, but she’s not interested in a night-in-shining latex. But when a family tragedy pushes her to the brink, it’s J.C. who’s there to teach her a new method of survival, one based on following primal urges and desires. His no-strings-attached lessons require her to abandon her constant need for control. Her carefully built walls are obliterated.
Gwen discovers there’s a beautiful world outside her prison. Freedom is exhilarating—and terrifying. When she starts to feel something for J.C., she fears for her heart. Especially as she realizes that he has secrets of his own. Secrets that don’t want to set him free.
BOOK ONE OF TWO. This series can be read alone or with the Fixed Trilogy.
Review:
Gwen is very controlled and responsible. She is the consummate rule follower. Where she is concerned she is ok with her life. That is until she meets JC. She would never had met him if she didn’t cover for another manager at the club she works at. Unfortunately, for Gwen, JC is not a rule follower and their first meeting proves that with the cigars, half naked women and poker playing in the private room in the club. Though Gwen tries to get him to follow the rules it is the proposition that JC throws out to her that throws her for a loop. Immediately she refuses but she can’t get him out of her head. It isn’t until her controlled world starts to shake at its foundations that allows her to go to JC. In their arrangement neither one of them is supposed to have feelings but when not just Gwen becomes free how can they hold the feelings at bay.
I really fell for this book. The sex was steamy and even makes the reader feel free by living vicariously through Gwen. It isn’t just the great sex scenes that keep this book together. I think the element of secrets and lies allows for a level of intrigue that made you wanting more just to uncover the secrets that JC is hiding from Gwen. The idea of how their love grows from so little was unique. This is one series that I can’t wait until the next book. I have found a new addiction and his name is JC. Overall, if you want to experience an erotic romance with twists and turns, you will want to pick this book up as soon as possible.
