I finished yet another book on my Summer reading list. Sally MacKenzie’s newest book Bedding Lord Ned is the first in her Duchess of Love series. This is Sally MacKenzie’s first series following her Naked Nobility series.
In Bedding Lord Ned we meet Ned and Ellie. Lord Edward or Ned is finally ready to remarry after 4 years of mourning his wife and child. Ellie has secretly lusted after Ned since they were children. Even after Ned married her best friend she hid in the shadows avoiding any possible suitors while still pining after Ned. She stood by and helped him get through his mourning of his love. This is the year Ellie has decided that she is too old to hope for Ned to see her as anything other than a friend. She wants children and is desperate enough to marry anyone. So, Ellie has decided to use the house party held by the Duchess of Love, also known as Ned’s mother, to find a man who will give her children. The Duchess of Love is a well-known and successful matchmaker. She has decided to ensure that both Ned and Ellie find who they are looking for no matter what. This conniving matchmaker has more than one trick up her sleeves that will allow both Ned and Ellie to find out the depth of real love and how after loss love is still very possible.
I adore Sally MacKenzie’s books. She knows how to weave a good Regency romance with humor and a little bit of sex mixed in. Ned and Ellie are excellent characters to start a new series with. I think the ways the Duchess came up with to push and pull with her guests was phenomenal. I especially loved Lord Reginald and his stealing of personal items. For just being a cat he had a very important role in the story. I know this book is only one of a trilogy. I can’t wait to see what she has planned for Jack and Ash. No matter what it is sure to be an excellent story.
