Today I am welcoming Jennifer James. She is one of the authors in the Halloween Heat V. A very steamy read. Be sure to check out my review that was posted on October 18th.
Hi! Thanks so much for hosting me today on Book Maven! Jackie has been so generous giving myself and the other authors of Halloween Heat V multiple dates here to chat and share time with her audience.
A few weeks ago I told a real life ghost story over on Book Lovin’ Mamas. If you’re curious you can hop over there and read it. But for today, I thought I’d tell another one. J What can I say, I’m in the mood to tell spooky stories.
I lived in a haunted house from the time I was 12 until I was 18. The lady ghost really didn’t like me. When I got married, I was very young and very broke. So, being crafty, I elected to make my own wedding flowers. Bouquets, corsages, the whole bit. They really didn’t turn out that bad. In fact, I’m rather proud of them still. But anyway, onto the ghost.
Oh, wait, I have to give you a little background. My grandmother lived downstairs in an in-law suite. She was getting older, but still loved to cook and would often fall asleep while cooking. So, the smell of burning food generally meant one of us had to go downstairs, get pots and pans off the stove, and open windows.
This particular night, a bunch of the girls in the wedding party and I were in the living room working on all those flowers. The faint smell of something burning grew stronger and stronger until everyone was walking around looking for the source of the smell. We opened the windows and my brother went downstairs to see what Grandma was burning.
Grandma wasn’t cooking. She was fast asleep in her favorite arm chair with the TV blasting.
Eventually the smell went away (after giving everyone a good sized headache).
Three days later my brother confessed that as soon as he left the living room the smell was no longer distinguishable. Only the living room smelled as though something was on fire.
We’re giving away a $25 Giftcard and to enter, use the Rafflecopter below and answer the following question: Do you have a ghost story to share? I’d love to hear yours. I hate feeling like the only person in the room these things have happened to.
