Guest Post and Review: Highland Definace by Sky Purington

Posted on February 20, 2013 by Jackie Paxson

I’d like to welcome Sky Purington today.  She is here with her new book Highland Defiance.  This is a wonderfully romantic time travel highland romance.  As a stop on this blog tour we are also lucky enough that she is doing a giveaway with some really awesome prizes.  So be sure to click on the link to enter Sky’s awesome giveaway.  So without any other introduction here is Sky Purington.

Thanks so much for having me over. Along my Bewitching Book Tour I’ve spent a lot of time focusing on Mildred and Adlin from my latest release, Highland Defiance. Today, I thought to keep it light and fun by providing what I consider some of the best reasons to read a Highlander Time-Travel Series. Yes, this list is partial to both The MacLomain Series and The MacLomain Series- Early Years but like they say, it’s best to write what you know. *winks*

Top Ten Reasons to Read a Highlander Time-Travel Series

1.     Pages full of well-researched medieval Scottish history.

2.     Endless Highland settings including ragged mountains, misty glens, sea lochs, and so much more.

3.     Tall, kilted, muscled warriors.

4.     Super sexy brogues.

5.     Ancient magic.

6.     Over a thousand pages of steamy lust and timeless romance.

7.     Engaging characters that appear in several books.

8.     100% adventure.

9.     Wonderfully intriguing castles.

10.  The trill o’ the bagpipe!

Book Description:

Mildred, a young woman living in New England during the onset of World War II, worries about her family. What is to come? How will life change? Little does she anticipate change is to come not from war, but from an unexpected trip back in time to medieval Scotland.

Adlin, Chieftain of the MacLomain clan, will never forget the moment he lays eyes on her. Though he rules one of the most powerful clans in Scotland, Mildred redefines the man he thought he was. Her quick wit and perseverance humble his natural arrogance. Her sensuality cripples his defenses.

The maddened determination of a rival chieftain threatens their very existence. Caught together in time, they must find a way to evade the mighty MacLeods and keep peace in the Highlands. But lust, rage, and potential war simmer on the edge of their every move.

Will Mildred and Adlin find true love despite the odds? Find out in HIGHLAND DEFIANCE.

Stories from the original, MacLomain Series, include The King’s Druidess (Prelude), Fate’s Monolith (Book I), Destiny’s Denial (Book II) and Sylvan Mist (Book III). Also available in The MacLomain Series Boxed Set (Books 1-4)

Review:

Highland Defiance was a book I fell in love with from page one.  The story and the characters were so encompassing you think your travelling back in time with Mildred.  This was the first of Sky Purington’s books I have read, but I will definitely be picking up her other books in the Maclomain series.  This is a short, quick read, but any more of the story would have been too much.  Adlin and Mildred’s love story is sigh worthy and Adlin himself is drool worthy.  Also, Adlin’s sister Iosball was great.  She really was a fantastic asset. Her wit and spunk really added to the depth of the story. I hope she gets a book of her own.  I’d love to learn more about her story.  I would say my only wish for this book was that it had an epilogue of sorts.  I was left with some questions like what about Mildred’s mortality or Does Mildred see her family again?  No earth shattering questions but ones none the less that I would have loved answered.  Overall, this is a great Highland romance.  If you like Highland Warriors and a great love story you will love Highland Defiance.

I’d like to thank Sky Purington for stopping by today and Bewitching Book Tours for letting me host this spot.  If you’d like to learn more about Sky Purington you can click on the links below.  For more information about Highland Defiance you can go to Amazon.
