Happy Friday! I hope everyone is getting a jump on their long weekend. I am ringing in Memorial Day weekend with a review of a fantastic author, Stephanie Keyes and her newest book, The Fallen Stars. I have quickly become quite a fan of hers. This is the second book in her Star Child series. Her first book is called The Star Child and you can find my review of that book here. I would highly recommend this series. Stephanie sucks you in with her amazing storytelling ability and wonderfully inventive characters. The Fallen Stars picks up from where The Star Child leaves off and you are swept away into a whirlwind of love, adventure and suspense. To see the rest of my review be sure to check it out after the book blurb.

Kellen St. James was just your average seventeen-year-old prodigy, until he eighty-sixed the Lord of Faerie and proposed to the Celtic Goddess, Calienta. But then everything in Kellen’s life gets turned upside-down when he and Cali end up on the run from a seriously irritated group of faeries. The worst part? They have zero idea why they’re being hunted.
Suddenly, Kellen is stuck in the middle of another prophecy that foresees him turning away from Calienta and embracing the dark. He’ll be forced to take sides in a struggle to claim his birthright, while discovering secrets about his father’s past. Meanwhile, his passion for Cali grows stronger, even as the prophecy threatens to tear them apart.
In the end, will Kellen and Cali survive the fates? When the ultimate power is within reach, which side will he choose?
Review:
I am going to preface this review with the suggestion that you read The Star Child first. You could read The Fallen Stars without but you may be lost on some of the characters and the references that are made throughout the book. Like I said earlier The Fallen Stars picks up right where we left off. Kellen and Calienta are supposed to get married, but unfortunately before the ceremony can finish The C.O.D or Children of Danu show up and threaten Kellen, Calienta, Lugh and Bridget. With the wedding interrupted Cali is forced to take Kellen, herself, Gabe (Kellen’s best friend) and Alistair (Kellen’s Grandfather) into hiding. It doesn’t take long for the C.O.D to find them and they soon come to a conclusion that Cali will give up her Goddess status and Gabe will be in charge of the hideout’s location. While Cali is now adjusting to being a mortal they are all still in danger even when they feel they are safe. They must question everyone who befriends them or tries to speak with them. In the end it’s not the C.O.D who are the real danger it is a foe they have thought was already vanquished. Kellen is forced to choose between good and evil. He must decide where his loyalties lie even after losing everything. But, like all fairy tales things are not what they seem. In the end we are left wondering will Kellen and Cali get their happy ending or will evil forces prevail!
I can’t say enough about this book. I loved this addition to the Star Child series. Stephanie’s ability to pick up Kellen and Calienta’s story from the first book and take us on yet another journey is phenomenal. Even more characters and questions are put before us in this book and I for once can’t wait for the next installment. I have high hopes for Kellen and Cali. Now I also want to know what is going on with Gabe and who is this new big bad. Overall, this is a wonderfully written Young Adult Fantasy book. If you are looking for a good story, awesome characters and a world you could fall into and get lost in then The Star Child and The Fallen Stars are books you want to read ASAP.
