Happy Friday! This time next week we will be waking up with turkey hangovers and shopping til we drop. But, today is just like any other Friday and I have for you a wonderful author and her western romance, Dawn Luedecke and To Tame a Montana Heart. I loved these characters. They are definitely memorable and though this book isn’t for younger audiences the example that Dusty sets is wonderful. For my full review be sure to check it out after the book blurb. I hope you all have a wonderfully relaxing Friday because next week we will all be singing a different tune. 🙂
Book Blurb:
Running from a past of privilege, deceit, and danger, Travis Simms is ready to settle down. What better place to forget all he left behind than the quiet little Montana town of Lolo Hot Springs? His goal is clear — build a hotel and his own destiny without complications — until one of the town’s most troublesome women captures his attention.
Dusty Larson is hell bent on independence, helping her sister run the Triple D Ranch. She can do anything a man can, and do it better, so she certainly doesn’t need one in her life. The only problem is she seems to attract bad luck and danger…and Travis. Can he tame her wild ways and keep his bachelor status intact — or does he risk losing his heart?
Review:
Travis Sims first comes upon Dusty Larson as her and her sister DeEtte are being held up by a scoundrel. Unfortunately, they are being held up while they leaving a swimming hole. Travis not wanting to leave damsel in distress he steps in and takes hold of the situation. Unbeknownst to him he is saving two very capable women. He finds this out when Dusty hits the scoundrel and gives him a bloody nose.
Though Dusty kinda appreciates Travis stepping in she knows that she and her sister were very capable of taking the robber down. Dusty gets it in her head that she has to teach this city-slicker a thing or two. This starts off a game between Travis and Dusty that soon turns into less of a game and more toward love. Travis’ need to protect Dusty from both herself and others draws him closer to her and her wild family. Dusty drags Travis into situations from hunting down outlaws to searching for a missing herd of Mustangs to dealing with Salish Indians. Though the two go through trial after trial their love grows, but are they ready for love when it comes or will they let it pass them by.
This was a great Western Romance. I loved the scenery and the characters, especially the characters. Dusty and DeEtte are wonderful. I loved their spunk and their sass. They were who they were and to hell with what other people thought even their parents. I thought these are great examples for young women. They are being themselves and doing what they want in spite of what others may think of them. Though this is set in a dramatically different time I think the lesson can be translated over to current times. This story drew me in and wouldn’t let go til the last page. It was fun, natural and all around entertaining. If you are looking for a good cowboy/cowgirl book with some love thrown in there you will want to pick this book up.
Author Bio:
A country girl born and bred, Dawn Luedecke has spent most of her life surrounded by horses, country folk, and the wild terrain of Nevada, Idaho and Montana. As a child she would spend many afternoons reading books, watching western classics, and Rogers and Hammerstein movies. When she grew up she decided to leave the quiet country life for a chance to find adventure by serving in the United States Coast Guard. During that time she found her soul mate (and alpha male) and started a family and writing career. These days you can find her on the coastline as she follows her husband’s Coast Guard career along the beach.
