Book Blurb:
Waking up in Vegas was never meant to be like this.
Evelyn Thomas’s plans for celebrating her twenty-first birthday in Las Vegas were big. Huge. But she sure as hell never meant to wake up on the bathroom floor with a hangover to rival the black plague, a very attractive half-naked tattooed man, and a diamond on her finger large enough to scare King Kong. Now if she could just remember how it all happened.
One thing is for certain, being married to rock and roll’s favourite son is sure to be a wild ride
Review:
What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas unless you get drunk and marry a Rock God. Evelyn learns this the hard way when she wakes up on the bathroom floor of a stranger’s motel room. Though this stranger is really hot and very sweet she can’t remember a thing that happened the night before. As she tries to scrape herself off of his floor and pull herself together she can’t help but see the gigantic rock on her finger. Immediately asking the obvious question she inquires with the stranger what exactly happened. When she realizes the stranger is now her husband she proceeds to throw up…again. When David realizes Evelyn has no idea what happened he says many things he regrets and tells her that his lawyers will be in touch with annulment papers. Evelyn comes up with a brilliant plan to forget this whole situation and the searing pain that is on her butt and move on with her life.
Once Evelyn returns to Portland she becomes painfully aware that she didn’t just marry anyone. She married the lead guitarist of Stage Dive and now has paparazzi after her. So much for ignoring everything. When word gets back to Dave that Evelyn is being harassed by the paparazzi he invites her to stay with him in LA. Evelyn chooses to go there to draw any and all attention away from those she loves.
Evelyn’s first day in LA is disastrous. She is driven to where David is staying and is given a room. It’s very obvious she doesn’t fit with this crowd. For one she has way too much clothing on and she doesn’t have HOE stamped on her forehead. After a horrible encounter with David’s brother she is unceremoniously escorted by David back to her room. The following day Evelyn is ambushed by managers and lawyers for her to sign any number of papers that she isn’t comfortable with. After leaving, Evelyn proceeds to escape the mansion grounds but is met by David’s best friend Mal. He offers to help and they escape for a while. It doesn’t take long for David to find Evelyn and soon they decide to escape together to Monterey.
Evelyn and David learn in Monterey how to be together. With just themselves they begin to really get to know each other. Soon, David is writing and Mel joins the now lovebirds to work on more songs. Their time together is cut short when they are forced to rejoin life in LA for a show that Stage Dive must perform at. Evelyn’s nerves are on edge knowing she doesn’t fit this scene but she is confident that with the promises her and David have shared then they can face anything. The problem with this is anything comes fast in the form of ex-girlfriends, trust issues, sibling issues and a broken promise. In a lifestyle that Evelyn is unaccustomed and David is too accustomed to can they learn to live and love together or will the adage of What happens in Vegas Stay in Vegas be the real swan song for them?
I adored this book. The story and the characters were great. It’s a wonderful blend of love, emotion, Rock and Roll, sex and tequila. I love Evelyn and David. Evelyn is exactly what David needs. I did think it was a bit funny that she had no clue who he was and didn’t realize that it was him whose name was tattooed on her butt. David is definitely not your typical rock star. He isn’t pretentious or obnoxious. His warmth toward Evelyn shows at the beginning even when things look bad. It was just those two though. The supporting cast of characters were equally phenomenal. Mel is just wonderful. He would definitely be the one that I would want. He was just as sweet and charming as David but with just a hint of that funny bad boy. Those are always my favorites. Lauren as Evelyn’s best friend is equally awesome. I did love how she was a huge Stage Dive fan. I think that made it all the better when Evelyn had no real clue who he was. Overall, I loved this book. I would recommend it hands down to anyone wanting a good Rock N Roll romance. I can’t wait for Mel’s book next. Kylie Scott has just gotten another huge fan with me.
