Book Blurb:
In the hospital they keep calling her Sam and telling her she’s married to Alex Porter but she doesn’t know this Alex. Then she discovers she’s lost more than a year of her life and Alex can’t, or won’t, tell her what happened. He refuses to let her see or talk to her father and there is also something very important about Samantha, she can’t remember.
Alex Porter can’t explain how Sam was either pushed or jumped from a moving car traveling away from him, or why Sam’s memory disappeared but he’s sure her father played a role. All he can do is offer support as she recovers and wait for her to come to him as she had before the accident, hoping against hope, Sam’s father has not ruined his marriage and driven away the woman he is starting to love.
Review:
Sam awakens to surroundings she isn’t familiar with and a constant beeping sound that just perpetuates the headache she has. When nurses come in to see that she is awake they explain to her she is in the hospital. Sam is very confused and doesn’t understand why her father isn’t anywhere to be found. It is then that the doctor tells her she has been in the hospital for a couple of months and that she can ask her husband all the questions she needs answering. This confuses Sam since she has never been married and has no clue who they are referring to. Sam has lost over a year of her memory and even after being shown proof of her marriage is still skeptical. Sam must try to regain the memories she lost and rebuild what she doesn’t remember having. As Sam tries to do this more questions than answers pop up until she can regain her memory. Can Sam start anew or will her memories or lack there of ruin what could be the love of her life?
This was quite an intriguing story. I was a little unsure at first. I didn’t really like her husband and I liked his assistant even less. But, as the story went on and you could actually see Sam growing into the person she probably would have been without her father’s interference I grew to care about both Sam and Alex. This is a story where getting amnesia and being forced to start anew was the best thing that could have happened to them. Though the mystery of Sam’s memories is the most prominent part of the story, the romance and love that grows between Alex and Sam weaves its way into it quite nicely. This is definitely a refreshing read. Overall, I enjoyed the story once it got going. You have to kind of bear with it for the first couple chapter then its full speed ahead until the last page.
