Today’s coffee and a review is a great start to your week. Sex in the Title is a hilarious look at men, sex and NYC. This book is definitely a great insight and validation to what every women thinks a man thinks about. For my full review keep reading after the book blurb. I hope you all have a wonderful week to come.
Book Blurb:
New York City, May 2000. The Internet bubble has burst and Evan, a computer programmer, is fired with an email from his boss. The next day, his girlfriend dumps him, also via email. Afraid to check any more emails, Evan desperately seeks a rebound romance but the catastrophes that ensue go from bad to hilariously worse.
Fortunately, Evan meets Sammy — someone whose legendary disasters with females eclipse even his own. To reverse their fortunes, they recruit their friends — Trevor, Yi, and Carlos — to form a group of five guys who take on Manhattan in pursuit of dates, sex, and adventure.
When Evan, a closet writer, falls desperately in love with a Hollywood starlet, he schemes to meet her by writing a novel that will sweep her off her feet. Sammy knows nothing about publishing but is confident of one thing: Evan’s book should have the word “sex” in the title.
With musings about life, relationships, and human psychology, this quintessential New York story about the search for happiness follows five men on their comical paths to trouble, self-discovery, and love.
Review:
When Evan and Sammy meet it isn’t under the best of circumstances. They have both ended up in the hospital with injuries to very sensitive parts of their bodies. But, it is here that the two become friends and learn about each other and their inability to sustain relationships with woman or even just get laid. Its with this clandestine meeting that the two devise a plan to rope in their friends in a posse which will get them all where they want to be…with hot chicks. It is through meeting these men and learning their stories that hilarity ensues and success with women is not always the outcome. In the end some will find happily every after and others will end up in an Ashram in upstate NY.
This was a great book. It definitely had lots of comedy and had me cringing for the guys in some of their more cringe-worthy moments. All five of the guys have unique personalities and bring something different to the story. Their stories are interwoven masterfully and give a woman a great sense of what men are really about. Sadly its not too shocking what they are really about. It is in the title. But, with the bad in their stories come the good and they definitely have redeeming qualities and events that happen to them. I would definitely recommend this book if you want a good laugh and a little insight into the male psyche. Overall, a wonderful read with great characters and a great story.
