Review: Dragon Knight's Sword by Mary Morgan

Posted on September 8, 2014 by Jackie Paxson

Today I have a wonderful novel to share with you.  It’s an enthralling story that brings lore of Scotland and its enchanted lands to life.  This is the first book in Mary Morgan’s Order of the Dragon Knights series.  Dragon Knight’s Sword will drag you in and make you fall in love with the story and the land of Scotland.  For my full review keep reading after the book blurb.

Order of the Dragon Knights
Duncan Mackay will do anything to lift the curse from his family — even forfeit his own life. But his plans change when he encounters the woman from his dreams, literally. She is from the future, somehow has his lost sword, and can talk to the Dragon that is able to lift his family’s curse.
Brigid O’Neill has spent her life listening to the mythological legends from Ireland and Scotland. So, when an ancient sword lands at her doorstep and she starts dreaming of a rugged Highlander, she drops everything and takes on a quest that will alter everything she believes.
Before their journey ends, not only will Duncan and Brigid battle an ancient curse, they must also find the courage to believe in the destiny that brought them together

Review:

When Duncan Mackay plays a tragic role in cursing his family he feels that redemption only comes with giving up his own life.  This all changes when Brigid O’Neill comes into his life.  Brigid is from the future and has always been interested in her Scottish heritage.  When she is sent an ancient sword and begins dreaming of a handsome Highland warrior who beckons her to bring him the sword.  On an impulse, Brigid travels to Scotland to return the sword to the owner’s family.  But, on a strange twist of fate and faery magic Brigid finds herself in 1205.  Not long after landing in 1205 Brigid comes face to face with her dream Highlander.  Instantly, Duncan and Brigid feel tied together.  What Duncan doesn’t realize is that Brigid is his way of lifting his part of the curse and thawing his frozen soul.  But, will Duncan let Brigid help in his quest or will he choose the wrong path and be doomed forever?
This was a fantastic story.  It drew me in and wouldn’t let go until the very last page.  Duncan and Brigid’s love story was epic.  It was one for the ages. Not only will you fall in love with Duncan and Brigid but you will also love all the other characters like Nell, Finn and Cormac.   This story isn’t just the love story that is so prominent.  Scotland both past and present is a character.   Through this story the land draws you in and calls to you.  Like all good stories with memorable characters you will be dreaming of them for days to come.  I guarantee you will be dreaming of Scotland after reading this book.  This beautifully written story and wonderfully described scenery sets up this series as one I will definitely be following.  This is definitely a story and series that will stay with you for a while.
