Today’s one-click freebie review is Tattoo Thief by Heidi Joy Tretheway. If you’re looking for a new rocker romance with some steam, I have found your book. This fun, sexy read makes a rock star seem human and fallible. For my full review be sure to keep reading after the book blurb.
Book Blurb:
22-year-old Beryl doesn’t know why Gavin Slater trashed his penthouse, abandoned his dog and fled the country. But as his house sitter, she must pick up the pieces for the front man of the white-hot rock band Tattoo Thief.
When ultra-responsible Beryl confronts the reckless rock star, she wants to know more than just what to do with his mess. Why is he running? What’s he searching for? And is he responsible for the death of his muse?
New York newbie Beryl must find her footing in Gavin’s crazy world of the ultra-wealthy to discover her own direction and what can bring him back.
Review:
Beryl is stuck. She is the manager at her local coffeehouse and cant seem to see a way out. That is until her dad’s friend comes back to visit and offers her a job in NYC. Though reluctant at first, Beryl agrees and soon moves to the big city. Unfortunately, when she arrives things don’t end up the way she plans. Her roommate situation falls apart and she finds herself staying at a cheap sleazy motel. Not only is her living situation horrible so is her first task as assistant to a property manager. She is responsible for cleaning the destroyed mess of an apartment that a spoiled rock star wrecked. But, when he boss has the idea for her to branch out and begin house sitting her housing problems are solved. While living at the rock star’s apartment she begins an email correspondence with him. Initially it is only to confirm what his needs for the apartment are, but this grows into much more and soon Beryl knows his darkest secrets and is begging him to come home. But, can her rock star really change or will he fall right back where he was when she first walked into his apartment?
This was an addicting read. So much so that I had to talk myself out of reading the next book right away. I totally fell for Gavin. He is definitely a hot rock star and will be in line with my other rock star book boyfriends. What I think really made this book stand out though was that they don’t meet until three-quarters of the way through the book. Their relationship builds through email and chat. It felt much more organic than some of these rock star romances that start backstage and end happily ever after. I also really liked the parallel evolution of both Anna and Gavin. They are both stuck at some point but manage to change and grow into poignant characters that you care about. I truly can’t wait to get my hands on the next book and meet more of the boys from Tattoo Thief. It will be a fun ride that is going to suck me in all over again. I am definitely glad I one-clicked this freebie. Thank you Amazon!
