Happy Friday! I hope all of you have been having a great week and have enjoyed all of the wonderful reads I’ve gotten to share with you. Today is book two in my new obsession The Throne of Glass series. Crown of Midnight takes this series a step farther. It answers some questions and definitely makes you ask some more too. You get to see all your favorite characters and experience heartbreak, anger, rage and sadness among other emotions. For my full review keep reading after the book blog. I would be remiss that you may get spoilers just for the mear fact that it is book two. I will try my best but you have been warned. 🙂 Have an awesome weekend and Friday!
Book Blurb:
From the throne of glass rules a king with a fist of iron and a soul as black as pitch. Assassin Celaena Sardothien won a brutal contest to become his Champion. Yet Celaena is far from loyal to the crown. She hides her secret vigilantly; she knows that the man she serves is bent on evil.
Keeping up the deadly charade becomes increasingly difficult when Celaena realizes she is not the only one seeking justice. As she tries to untangle the mysteries buried deep within the glass castle, her closest relationships suffer. It seems no one is above questioning her allegiances—not the Crown Prince Dorian; not Chaol, the Captain of the Guard; not even her best friend, Nehemia, a foreign princess with a rebel heart.
Then one terrible night, the secrets they have all been keeping lead to an unspeakable tragedy. As Celaena’s world shatters, she will be forced to give up the very thing most precious to her and decide once and for all where her true loyalties lie… and whom she is ultimately willing to fight for.
Review:
Leaving off from Celaena’s win, Crown of Midnight drives you into Celaena’s new job as Champion. Back to being a fearless killer Celaena does what she must in hopes of possibly winning her freedom. What she doesn’t anticipate is how things are different now from a year before. Though she struggles with her new moral compass she must put on an act that no one can discover. She can’t confide in the Crown Prince, the Captain of the Guard or even her best friend a foreign princess. As she gets further into her secrets and intrigue she can’t help but to begin to trust those around her. That is until a tragic night that turns her world upside down and shreds her to pieces. Calaena will be changed forever from that night. Nothing and no one will ever be the same and with that secrets will come to light that are dangerous to all who know them.
This series has gotten me hook, line and sinker. It has taken all of my will not to sit down and read this entire series. I have been a good girl and am trying to spread it out. That being said, Crown of Midnight is one of the best second books in a series I have read. Celaena’s story continues to be spellbinding and page turning. The suspense, intrigue and romance all flow seamlessly and naturally. I love all of the new things we discover in this book. This book made me realize how big this story is going to get. The emotions are so raw with this story. Its terribly difficult for me to keep this review spoiler free. So, I will just tell you if you haven’t started this series after my two reviews then you need to pick it up now. I guarantee you won’t regret it.
