Today I have a wonderful beach read for you. Though it takes no place near a beach, it does have all the elements of a great beach read. You have a hot guy, a steamy romance, some drama and excitement thrown in there to boot. Gena Showalter is such a talent that I never seem to get enough of any series I read of hers. For my full review keep reading after the book blurb.
Book Blurb:
Just released from prison, Jase Hollister has a dark and twisted past. And now, he has only one goal: stay out of trouble. Strawberry Valley, Oklahoma, sounds like the perfect place for him and his two brothers-by-circumstance to settle down and live a nice, simple life. But model citizen isn’t exactly this rugged bachelor’s default setting—especially when it comes to a certain hot-blooded Southern beauty…
Brook Lynn Dillon has always been responsible. Not that it’s done her much good. The down-on-her-luck waitress is broke, single and fun-deprived. Until Jase comes along. He is dangerous, stunningly protective, breathtakingly sexy and as tempting as sin, and the passion sizzling between them is undeniable. But can it melt her resistance? After all, the right kind of trouble might be just what they both need.
Review:
Brook Lynn is always on the perpetual chase of keeping up with her sister. After pulling a double shift thanks to the no-show of her sister she finds herself at a party searching for her sister. She finally finds her in a bedroom with a guy that Brook Lynn can’t take her eyes off. Unfortunately, she doesn’t have time to admire the fine specimen that is Jase. Jase immediately sees the trouble that he got himself into. He never planned on falling for anyone because of his background. Who could possibly want to be with an ex-con? When he meets Brook Lynn he realizes he both wants and needs to stay away from her. Easier said than done for both of them. Though they pretend to hate each other it is just their ways of trying to push themselves apart. The more they pull apart the hotter things get. But, when secrets are finally revealed can their walls be torn down or will it just be another brick in the wall?
I am totally in love with these guys. Jase is definitely a heartbreaker even when he doesn’t want to be. Brook Lynn was the perfect girl for him. She didn’t take any of his crap and she was sassy to boot. Their love story practically burns through the book. Steamy scenes abound alongside emotionally charged events. The more you learn about Jase the more any woman would fall for him. Though he is tough he has a big heart that burns only for Brook Lynn. I really liked the little bit of intrigue also. It really propelled the story is a unique direction that made you love the characters even more. Overall, I loved this book and this heartbreaker just as much as the introducing novella I have reviewed earlier. I would recommend this for all the romance lovers out there. I know I can’t wait for the next book. Bring on Beck!
