Happy Monday! Today I am bringing to you the third installment of one of my favorite Young Adult series’. The Arcana Chronicles by Kresley Cole is one of the most unique ideas I’ve read. I’ve been a fan from the first book, Poison Princess, but the third book really leaves us hanging and propels the story forward in a way that will have you begging for Kresley Cole to hurry up and write the fourth book. For my full review please keep reading after the book blurb. Have an awesome week!
Book Blurb:
Can Evie convince her rival loves to work together? Their survival depends on it in this third book of #1 New York Times bestselling author Kresley Cole’s Arcana Chronicles, a nonstop action tale of rescue, redemption, and a revenge most wicked.
Heartbreaking decisions
Evie was almost seduced by the life of comfort that Death offered her—until Jack was threatened by two of the most horrific Arcana, the Lovers. She will do anything to save him, even escape Death’s uncanny prison, full of beautiful objects, material comforts…and stolen glances from a former love.
Uncertain victory
Despite leaving a part of her heart behind with Death, Evie sets out into a perilous post-apocalyptic wasteland to meet up with her allies and launch an attack on the Lovers. Such formidable enemies require a battle plan, and the only way to kill them may mean Evie, Jack, and Death allying. Evie doesn’t know what will prove more impossible: surviving slavers, plague, Bagmen and other Arcana—or convincing Jack and Death to work together.
Two heroes returned
There’s a thin line between love and hate, and Evie just doesn’t know where she stands with either Jack or Death. Will this unlikely trio be able to defeat The Lovers without killing one another first…?
Review:
Evie has a rough road ahead. An even rougher road than the one she has already traveled. She has decisions to make and with those decisions hearts will be broken. After escaping from Death, she finds her way back to the camp that Jack has built. She knows he has been taken by the Lovers and is being tortured every minute that goes by. Though she doesn’t get the most warm of welcomes she is still determined to rescue Jack. It isn’t until she rescues Jack and Death reappears on her doorstep that she realizes that the job isn’t done and she must rescue another Tarot Card. But, to rescue her she must convince Jack and Death to work together. Can her two loves work together or will they find there truly is a fate worse than death? Not everyone will survive and hearts will be broken but will Evie be able to handle the devastation that could destroy her world?
This was an incredible addition to the Arcana Chronicles. Evie, Death and Jack are the ultimate love triangle. We also got a lot more regarding the history of the game and how it came to be. Just like all the other books so far we also have gotten to meet other cards. This really provided more depth to the book and shows how complicated the alliances and villians are. Just like every other book in the series though we are left wondering what has happened. There are so many unanswered questions and I truly can’t wait for the next book. A series like this doesn’t come along very often. It truly is unique in it story and storytelling. Kresley Cole is a phenomenal storyteller and the more involved I get in this series the better it gets.
