Happy Labor Day for those of you celebrating! I hope you are getting to enjoy your day off and spend some time relaxing. I have just the book for you today. Inside the Lines takes us into the world of BDSM. No this is not another Fifty Shades book. This illustrates the culture and how people function inside and outside of it by using a great romantic and steamy story. For my full review keep reading after the book blurb. Have a great day and a great start to another week.
Book Blurb:
What happens in love might destroy you…
Or remake you altogether.
I make a living offering men and women their ultimate fantasies…as submissives of the mysterious Mistress Hathaway.
I’ve never surrendered to anyone. That’s not the way it works. Or rather, not the way I operate.
But when the gorgeous Fin MacKenzie shows up in my life, he throws everything out of balance.
Now I’m not sure who I am anymore, and I’m questioning everything.
What woman can turn away from a gorgeous Scotsman, especially when he sets her body on fire and her heart ablaze?
I have to stop it…us. I can’t keep going like this. It will ruin everything I’ve worked so hard to build.
Who am I if I surrender to him? Worse yet, who am I if I don’t?
Review:
Lux is used to having all of the control. In her work as a Dominitrix it is imperative. But, Lux has yet to find the balance of that life and one that includes a relationship. That is until she meets Fin. Fin, the sexy Scot, comes in and decimates Lux’s walls and boundaries. This terrifies Lux but she can’t see herself being with anyone but him. So, how can Lux deal with her issues and not destroy what she so desperately wants? Is it possible for her to have her cake and eat it too or will she willingly destroy the best thing that has ever happened to her?
This was quite the sexy story. It illustrated a world that most people are not familiar with. The world of BDSM can be intimidating for those on the outside looking in. In this book, we see both sides of those who participate. The complex nature of those who choose to dominate and those who choose to submit. Through Lux we experience both and a taste of how real life is for those with these preferences. Lux is a complex character. She is probably one of the most real characters I have ever read. Her flaws and fears influence just like anyone else. Though Lux is such a flawed character it balances out with Fin. Fin is such a sexy addition and you truly can’t see Lux with anyone but him. Though we don’t get to see him as deeply as Lux we do see his influence on her and its outcomes. I think this book had a fantastic story woven with subject matter that most people aren’t aware of. This was my first Aly Bishop book, but I guarantee it won’t be my last.
