Today I have the second book in this fantastic series. This is the continuation of the first book, Half Faerie. We continue Melia’s journey to get rid of Umbra and those who will try to incarnate him. For my full review keep reading after the book blurb. Have a great rest of your week. Don’t forget to keep an eye out this week for a lot more books and book reviews!
Book Blurb:
In Illialei, a light queen practices black magic.
In Tyrannis, the dragonwitch rises to power.
In the mortal world, Umbra pursues the half-bloods as vessels of incarnation.
Energies in the enchanted world are shifting and new alliances are forming; the battle between Dark and Light has begun. Melia is desperate to make things right with Ryder, the young priest from Idonne, but first she must warn the half-bloods in the mortal world that Umbra is coming for them—and face the powerful dragonwitch and her spectacular Dragon Carnivale.
Review:
Melia must face many obsticles now. With Ryder at her side and many of her friends they must stop the dragonwitch from calling Umbra to her, they must warn some of the half-bloods that the Princess is trying to destroy and Melia must try to control the powers she now has. What they don’t expect is a threat from one of the half-bloods they try to warn. She wants to become Umbra’s vessel. She and Melia will compete to see who will be the one and who will be able to control the evil. When the dust settles will the dark take the light or will the light have a fighting chance?
This was a great continuation to this story. It really propels the story into a new realm of excitement and intrigue. I really liked the addition of Jade as a contender to host Umbra. I thought it really had you guessing what would happened between her and Ryder and what would happen with Melia’s idea of hosting Umbra herself. I also enjoyed the deepening of Ryder’s story within this second book. You learn more about Ryder and we finally get some satisfaction in Melia and Ryder’s stories. Since I have read these so close together its gonna be torture to wait for the third book. I really recommend these books. Heidi Garrett is a fantastic new find. If you want to journey to a new world and explore the writing of a new writer I would recommend you picking up these books.
