I can’t wait to share this with you. I have completely fallen in love with this series. The continuation of the Throne of Glass series was something I was anticipating every since I finished Heir of Fire. Queen of Shadows is full of all the excitement this series has become known for. For my full review keep reading after the book blurb.
Book Blurb:
The queen has returned.
Everyone Celaena Sardothien loves has been taken from her. But she’s at last returned to the empire—for vengeance, to rescue her once-glorious kingdom, and to confront the shadows of her past…
She has embraced her identity as Aelin Galathynius, Queen of Terrasen. But before she can reclaim her throne, she must fight.
She will fight for her cousin, a warrior prepared to die for her. She will fight for her friend, a young man trapped in an unspeakable prison. And she will fight for her people, enslaved to a brutal king and awaiting their lost queen’s triumphant return.
Review:
Aelin is back. The Queen of Terrasen has returned. Only no one knows she is back in Rifthold just yet. She is back with plans. Plans to free her cousin, get her amulet back and pay some people back for the wrongs they have done. Working with the rebels and Chaol she must fight for those who can’t. Against so many odds without her magic she must use what she has always used, her skills as a master assassin. The Queen is back so the King will do all he can to stop her and turn those with her against her. Can Aelin do what fate has forced her and rise up and become what she has always been meant to be or will she lose more of those who are important to her?
I LOVE this series. I am completely addicted. Though I have to say I was a bit sad at the beginning. One of my favorite characters really changes and it saddened me. Thank goodness it gets better fast. Also, I can’t help but adore how Aelin really comes into her own. She has now accepted who she is and what she is meant to become. Though her feelings are still strong she has learned to become very queen like and overcome those who aim to hurt her. You also, can’t help but be in awe with her strategies and fighting. She has always been awesome but this really showcases how she has grown in that respect. It isn’t just Aelin’s story though. Manon, Chaol, Dorian and now Elide Lochan develop into very interesting and intrigal pieces in this series. They all connect in one way or another. These side characters truly add a depth to this series that makes it even more interesting. I can’t say enough about this series and the very talented Sarah J. Maas. All I can say to those who haven’t picked up this series is that you are truly missing out on something fantastic.
