Today I am starting a week of celebration leading up to the release day for Tara Sivec’s final book in her spinoff series, Chocoholics. I have been an uber fan of hers ever since I picked up my first copy of Seduction and Snacks. I have read all of these books multiple times and have quoted them to friends many times over. But, I have never reviewed them. So, starting today I will have a review of one of her books in these two series’ until Friday, October 30th when we will celebrate with champagne, cupcakes and tears her final book of this series, Baking & Babies. Today though we will start at the beginning with Seduction and Snacks! In this book we meet the most awesome bitches (total compliment) I have ever had the pleasure reading about. Be sure to keep reading for my full review after the book blurb. Come back every day to keep the celebration going!
Book Blurb:
Claire is a twenty-something, single mom that grudgingly helps her best friend sell sex toys while she attempts to make enough money to start her own business to give her foul-mouthed, but extremely loveable (when he’s asleep) toddler a better life.
When Carter, the one-night-stand from her past that changed her life forever, shows up in her hometown bar without any recollection of her besides her unique chocolate scent, Claire will make it a point that he remembers her this time.
With Carter’s undisguised shock at suddenly finding out he has a four-year-old son and Claire’s panic that her stretch marks and slim to none bedroom experience will send the man of her dreams heading for the hills, the pair will do whatever they can to get their happily ever after.
Warning: contains explicit sex, profanity and enough sarcasm to choke a horse.
Review:
Claire did the one thing she swore she’d never do…have a kid. She despised kids, but now she has one thanks to a drunken night where virginity was lost and the guy’s name never gotten. While Claire had to drop out of college and work at a bar to support herself and her kid, her best friend has been plotting how they two of them could make their dreams come true and run a business together. After a lot of pushing, Claire agrees to help Liz with her start up business. What she doesn’t realize is that its selling sex toys. When Claire has an embarrassing sex toy party and goes to work after what she doesn’t expect is to run into the one man that changed her life forever….her baby’s daddy. From here Claire’s life takes one crazy turn after another. Its full of a potty mouthed four year old, baking her favorite goodies, sex toys, crazy friends and one hot man that she doesn’t want to keep her hands, mouth or her vagina off of him.
This book was the one that got me hooked. I literally laughed out loud so many times people probably thought I was nuts. The characters are so real, especially Claire’s son Gavin. When he is saying inappropriate things he reminds me of my son and the crazy things that continually come out of his mouth. The relationship between her and LIz is enviable. I think every woman wants to have that person. That person who would be in jail with you saying we have to do that again. This was the beginning of a great series that just keeps getting better, but I am not going to spill anything else from the other books…yet. I think the best way to describe this book is…”fuck me gently with a chainsaw” :). Yes, I just totally stole that quote from this book!
