Review:

Laney has always been attracted to her Art History teaching assistant, Michael. Though she longed for him she didn’t think he would ever look at her twice. That is until the day after a confrontation in class with another student prompted him to ask her out. Laney has reservations about this but decides to take a chance. But, fear holds her back from going very far with him. This leads her to the mysterious candle shop where she will meet two very strange people who will change her world forever.
This is my first Christopher Rice story. This will not be my last. I have totally fallen for his writing. I loved that in such a small story he could draw us into the characters lives and gave us a little taste of characters connected to some of his other books. I loved Laney and Michael’s love story. It brought in a sense of realism that many people could relate too. In such a short story, Christopher Rice manages to masterfully intertwine romance, eroticism and paranormal. In this one story I can see why he is so successful. If you are a fan of paranormal, romance and steamy sex scenes you need to pick up this story. I know I will be going out and picking up more Christopher Rice books ASAP.
