Book Blurb:
Two dark worlds…One night that will change their lives forever…Where evil lurks, only goodness can prevail.
Acclaimed author Kristy Centeno, and Bestselling author of The Star Child series, Stephanie Keyes, bring you two stories that prove love and light can overcome the pain and shadows. With secrets hidden in the night, and dangerous creatures prowling the woods, trusting the enemy can mean either life or death.
Review:
In Kristy Centeno’s Shadows the hunter becomes the hunted. Daya knows the new customer where she works is not normal. She knows because her training to hunt the paranormal kicks in every time he is around. After leaving her work one night she is jumped. What she doesn’t expect is he isn’t the only one hunting her. When her hunter ends up helping her, the two of them must find out why leaders of the Underworld want to kill her.
In Stephanie Keyes’ The Boy in the Tree, at a coffee shop with her best friend, Jemma sees a boy she recognizes from her youth. After seeing him she is drawn back to the time when she was practically obsessed with him. When strange things begin to happen and scary tree warriors attempt to attack her, the boy she thought was the one from her childhood comes to her rescue. Soon Jemma and Owen figure out why the boy in the tree wants her and how they can stop his terror.
I adored both of these stories. Kristy Centeno’s story really drew me in. It was my first read by her. She wove a unique story that truly takes the reader on a ride. Taking the paranormal world and putting a cleverly veiled romance within it was well done. My only complaint was it felt so very unfinished. It felt like there was so much left unanswered. I felt unfulfilled even for a short story.
Stephanie Keyes loves the faerie aspect of the paranormal and she can write it with the best of them. I thought her story was quite unique and exciting. The story takes the wonder out of faeries and places the danger right with them. This bit of fantasy with a love story gives just the right amount of action, love and suspense. It was truly a phenomenal novella.
