Happy Friday! Today will be my last scheduled review for a few weeks. So, I have a fantastic book to begin my small hiatus. My Sweet Demise is an angsty romance with lots of Alpha Male action. For my full review keep reading after the book blurb. Have a great weekend and keep an eye out I will be publishing some reviews sporadically of books that have been on my TBR list.
Book Blurb:
Desperation makes a girl do crazy things…
When twenty-one year old Raina O’Connor is kicked out of her room on short notice, she’s thrown into a frantic search for a new place to stay. As the situation becomes more urgent, her choices have dwindled to her least favorite option—ladies’ man, Kent Nicholson.
Kent Nicholson loves women, just not as a roommate…
When a gorgeous blonde with big hazel eyes answers Kent’s ad for a roommate, his red flags start flying. He’s looking for a wingman, not a chick who will put a damper on his game or drench his apartment in pink. It’s clear she’s in a bind, and something about her makes him break his own rules. But when he reluctantly accepts, it’s with four concrete conditions.
Be his wingman. Don’t get in his way with other girls. No bitchy attitudes. And most importantly, she can’t fall for him.
Pretty sure this was the world’s worst idea—ever…
Trust is something earned. Raina learned that the hard way when her father broke her heart as a child, making it easy to steer clear of relationships. But living with Kent somehow stirs emotions Raina has always forbidden herself to have. Plus, he’s everything she never wanted—untrustworthy, pigheaded…and gorgeous. Something tells her Kent isn’t free of his own secret scars…
Love can drag you down and spit you out, and be worth every second.!
Review:
Raina is desperate. She is now homeless and must find a place to live. When she finally comes across an affordable place the very handsome guy that answers the door she realizes this may not be as ideal as she thinks. Kent agrees to let her move in with a few stipulations. Raina agrees but when she finally has to fulfill her part of the bargain she realizes may be impossible. As Raina and Kent fight their attraction and their pasts they must decide if they can let love in or will they let it fall out of their grasp?
I enjoyed this book. It was full of angst and drama, but it also had a solid love story. The story was well written with well developed and dynamic characters. Kent, himself, is the most complex and perplexing character. You will question why Raina really goes for him, but when his story unfolds you will be falling for him just like Raina. Another fantastic part of this book are the ancillary characters like James, Becca and Sam. Though you may not like some of them and they really are horrible at times they are so well written and help to propel the story. My only complaint with this book was the ending. It felt rushed and without the detail that throughout the book I became accustomed. Overall, this was quite an enjoyable book with very memorable characters.
