Book Blurb:
Twenty-six-year-old Margot sets out on a journey of self-discovery – she dumps her New York boyfriend, quits her Chicago job, and crashes at her friend’s flat in London.
Rather than find herself, though, she only feels more lost. An unsettling energy affects her from the moment she enters the old Victorian residence, and she spirals into depression. Frightened and questioning her perceptions, she gradually suspects her dark emotions belong to Charlotte instead.
Who is Charlotte? The name on a local gravestone could relate to Margot’s dreams and the grey woman weeping at the window.
Finding a ghost isn’t what she had in mind when she went ‘soul searching’, but somehow Margot’s future may depend on Charlotte’s past.
Woven between 21st century and Victorian London, What the Clocks Know is a haunting story of love and identity.
Review:
Margot’s life is at a crossroads. She finds herself in London going to school to better her career. What she doesn’t count on are how her emotions are strained with her move. She also doesn’t count on how her relationship and feelings for her friend in London. As she uncovers more about the history in London she begins to see things. Things she believes are ghost but with her emotions she second guesses herself. As Margot gets closer to discovering the ghost she will come to a conclusion that will possibly change the future and the past.
This was a very imaginative story. Using a ghost story and the idea of linked souls was very interesting and creative. The characters were dynamic and helped to make the story believable. Though I did find the amount of detail a bit cumbersome at times when the story really gets going it was quite enthralling. I really enjoyed Margot’s relationship with her friends in Chicago. They truly brought a sense of realism and likability to her. Without them she would have just been kinda petty, whiny and unlikable. Overall, this was an interesting and unique book that would sate any paranormal fan.
