I am lucky enough to bring to you today, Can’t Let Go. It’s number 5 in The Original Heartbreakers series. I love Gena Showalter’s writing. This next book in the series really hammers home how wonderful Gena Showalter is at writing romance. Jude and Ryanne’s story is one of the best in this series. For my full review keep reading after the book blurb.
Book Blurb:
With trust issues a mile long, Ryanne Wade has sworn off men. Then Jude Laurent walks into her bar and all bets are off. The former Army Ranger has suffered unimaginably, first being maimed in battle then losing his wife and daughters to a drunk driver. Making the brooding widower smile is priority one. Resisting him? Impossible.
To Jude, Ryanne is off limits. And yet the beautiful bartender who serves alcohol to potential motorists tempts him like no other. When a rival bar threatens her livelihood, and her life, he can’t turn away. She triggers something in him he thought long buried, and he’s determined to protect her, whatever the cost.
As their already scorching attraction continues to heat, the damaged soldier knows he must let go of his past to hold on to his future…or risk losing the second chance he desperately needs.
Review:
Ryanne can’t keep her gaze away from the very broody Jude. She knows she shouldn’t want the man with the dark past. She can’t seem to help herself though. Jude can’t explain why he can’t stay away from Ryanne and her bar. With his history, her bar should be the last place he would want to be. As he becomes her security and she decides she needs to make his life incredibly difficult they are drawn closer and closer. Can the two of them let go of the pasts that haunt them? Or will holding onto the past drown any possibility they have?
This series is one of my favorites. I love how the alpha males are flawed in a very real way and their heroines find ways to rescue themselves and the men they love. Ryanne and Jude are no different. Jude is probably one of the darkest characters in this series. He is so dynamic and complex. Ryanne is a great foil for him. She is relentless and unable to be controlled by a man who loves control. Ryanne and Jude are only one element though. Their friends/family really make this story entertaining and fun, even when it is series. These flawed heroes are the best. If you haven’t started this series it is never too late. You will love it! Can’t wait for Brock’s story next!
