Review: Miss Mechanic by Emma Hart

Posted on December 12, 2017 by Jackie Paxson

Happy Tuesday!  Today I get to bring to you another awesome Emma Hart book.  This book and its characters are almost too much.  There are so many laugh out loud moments that people probably thought I was crazy when I read this at work.  (If they didn’t already think that).  For my full review see below after the book blurb.  Keep an eye out I have some great books for you the next few days.

36233246Book Blurb:

Two mechanics. One rivalry.
She’ll prove she’s as good as she says she is.
He’ll prove her place isn’t under the hood.
It’s over it.

“Don’t let the bastards get you down.”
For twenty-six years, I lived by my daddy’s motto. Which is why “Mechanic Wanted” is all it takes for me to apply for the job at the garage we once owned.
And I meet the biggest bastard of them all.
Dexter Ryne. Hotter than Hell in July and a firm believer that my place is on reception, taking phone calls and looking pretty. Not getting dirty under the hood of a car.
Determined to prove each other wrong, we make a deal.
I have three weeks to prove my worth as a mechanic. If I don’t, I’m on telephone duty.
If I do, he’ll accept defeat and make my job permanent.
Now, all I have to do is fight my attraction to the cocky little… beep.
Problem is, an engine isn’t the only thing he knows how to make purr…

Review:

Jamie is one of the best damn mechanics around.  But, she can’t find a job for one sole reason, she’s a woman.  When a job opportunity opens at that garage that her father used to own she jumps on applying.  She doesn’t expect to come head to head with a sexy sexist that all she wants to do is conk him with a wrench.  Dex doesn’t believe a woman could handle a job like his.  They belong behind the reception desk.  When he meets the spicy, sassy Jamie he can’t help but bait her into a bet.  They have three weeks to prove each other wrong.  What happens when they realize underneath the sarcasm and smart remarks is a steamy passion?  Will they be able to come to terms or will it crash and burn?

Jamie and Dex are fantastic.  Their back and forth was some of the best I’ve read.  Neither would give an inch.  That is until they finally accepted being attracted to each other.  However, it wasn’t just Jamie and Dex in this book.  Both families are hilarious.  Dex’s grandfather is a master manipulator and Jamie’s mom is a pro at digging into Jamie’s life, hence the surprise entrance (you’ll love it).  I truly love Emma Hart’s writing.  She is so fantastic at creating a story that sucks you in, steams up your kindle and keeps you laughing.  If you haven’t picked up an Emma Hart book yet, why not start with this fantastic standalone.  As a woman you will love sexy Dex, you will admire Jamie’s spunk and laugh at the realistic stupid arguments the two of them get into.  As a man, you will find Jamie sexy, Dex will be clearly right but you will love the all around story and car talk.  I, for one, can’t wait to see what Emma Hart writes next.  I need my next fix.
