Book Blurb:
Everything was going according to plan…
After years of working my way up the corporate ladder, it was finally my time to shine. I was about to receive the promotion of a lifetime.
But just like that, my life was destroyed with a single career crushing email.
Now, I am headed back home to North Carolina, under the ruse of an extended vacation to help run the family inn while my sister is on maternity leave. After all, what is family for? Plus, a few days at the beach could definitely help uncomplicate this crazy life of mine.
Enter Aiden Fisher.
Aiden is a guest at my sister’s inn. He’s wicked hot, a huge flirt and has one of the sexiest British accents I’ve ever heard. But beyond all that, I see a darkness in his soul, as if he’s carrying a great weight upon his shoulders.
I find myself pushing back my trip home to Florida in hopes that maybe I’ll look into those hazel brown eyes and finally see truth shining back instead of lies. That maybe he’ll stop running and tell me the truth for once.
But you know what they say about liars? It takes one to know one and I’ve been telling the biggest lie of all – I’ve fallen hopelessly in love with Aiden.
And isn’t that the scariest truth of all?
Review:
Aiden should be celebrating his success. Instead the news he received makes him just want to get drunk and forget. When he gets an email pleading for him to help out a town that he created a sculpture for previously. He knows he needs to get away. The email came just in time. When he arrives he meets the very sexy Millie. Millie is only helping her family with their Inn temporarily. Though after her recent change she has no where else to be. As they get to know each other, their feelings get tangled in the lies they hold onto. Can Aiden and Millie find their way to each other?
I fell in love with this book. It was so heart wrenching at times. J.L Berg is so masterful in her story telling skills. She grabs the reader and makes them feel for the characters. You laugh with them and cry with them. Aiden and Millie’s story encompasses all of that. They are both at a crossroads in their life. Finding themselves in Okracroke for different reasons feels like fate. The journey these two characters take to take down the walls around their hearts is inspiring. I loved that this story felt real. The idea that no love really has a happily ever after. That it is something that is worked for and through all obstacles. I have truly loved all of the characters in this series. I think though that Millie and Aiden had the most to lose and gain. J.L Berg will definitely have you buying more Kleenex as you read this book. With that being said….I can’t wait for the next book!
